If you average the male and female #s from the exit polls….:

https://www.cnn.com/election/2021/exit-polls/california/recall

then you get….

No 58%
Yes 42%

And if you do the same for the replacement vote, you get this:

Elder 49%
Faulconer 9%
Cox 7%
Paffrath 4%
Kiley 4%
Jenner 2%

Newsom only doing two points better among Latino voters than white voters. Black voters are at 19% yes.

That's pretty good for the GOP.

Just in case anyone doesn’t spot it immediately, that’s not the real Dave Wasserman.

We're not going to overanalyze early exit poll results and make predictions about them are we.

That is this website's sole purpose though, no?

Only a 100k in-person votes in Orange County so even if they all go towards Yes not enough to let them win. The Conservative Orange county of the old days is dead.

Latinos has 58-42 no to recall

That’s not too bad for gop tbh

Assuming you can extrapolate

Again, you don't need to extrapolate, because the full exit poll results are online:

https://www.cnn.com/election/2021/exit-polls/california/recall

whites: 56% no
blacks: 81% no
Latinos 58% no
Asians 62% no
other racial/ethnic group: 42% no

How did Kevin Faulconer flop so badly, this is his home county where he was a popular mayor and he's not even winning it in the recall.

Very high turnout in San Diego is expected when all the votes are counted. 70% is insane in a an off year election in the month of September.

Quote
A high voter turnout is anticipated as droves of San Diegans are expected to flock to the polls Tuesday for Election Day. Already more than 875,000 ballots were received and the San Diego Registrar of Voters said it expects a 70% turnout for this election.

So for the people who said this would be within 10 points and would be a bad sign for 2022 for Dems.  Are these same people going to say the reverse if it's not at all close?

18-24s are 2-1 no, and the most Dem friendly age demo. 50-64s, aka late Boomers/Generation Jones are of course the most yes friendly.

I presume because mayors are not well known even if they are popular.
