I actually feel really bad for her. Her politics are horsesh*t, but no one deserves to be treated badly for being transgender. I just wish that she, along with every other LGBTQ+ conservative, would realize that the Republican Party is not their ally.

I mean, in theory, yes, i feel bad for her, because yes, no one should be treated like this.

But at the same time, like others have said, what did she expect? This is the party she belongs to and the way they act is not brand new information. And yet she's completely fine with going all in for that party and its voters.

This, and I feel bad for all the transgender people who were targeted and hurt by the policies of the fascist trump administration, whose prez campaign Jenner of course supported, b/c she is full of sh**t and cares more about her tax rate than she does anyone's right to be treated equally under the law like any other American.

If the Election were held today, secret ballot, I would vote yes on recall and vote for D in 2022

It won't do much of an R Gov is Elected due to D Supermajority legislature

Newsom isn't listed as a D on the ballot, it's yes or no for Recall, 51 recalls NEWSOM

Caitlyn Jenner Reportedly Pauses Her Governor Campaign to Film Celebrity Big Brother in Australia

https://www.vanityfair.com/style/2021/07/caitlyn-jenner-california-governor-campaign-paused-filming-celebrity-big-brother-australia?utm_source=twitter&mbid=social_twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_brand=vf&utm_social-type=owned

I am beginning to suspect maybe she isn't real serious about her campaign.

Not every LGBTQ person is a Democrat, a lot of them are tough on crime, antitax, etc. She should have ran as an Independent.

Look at Dave Rubin, he is gay and he is popular with today's conservative base.....

Still Safe D

Am I the only one baffled by how much press Jenner is getting? I’ve gotten like three alerts about her from CNN this week

The "campaign" is designed solely for the benefit of the national media; press statements regularly get sent out when only people in the East are awake, and California media then covers things that real candidates are doing instead. It's not surprising that the national media would gravitate to a celebrity joke campaign.

I made this point before, and I'm making it again now. Every time I look at this thread it's someone (usually someone not from California) posting about the Caitlyn Jenner "campaign", which nobody actually in California is talking about. Out of the ten posts on this page above this one, eight are about Caitlyn Jenner and the other two are by olawakandi.

I know the actual election might seem boring, but people have brought up the possibility of mass power outages having some effect on the race. It'd be nice if people were interested in discussing that or really anything else actually relevant to this election instead of this barely-related sideshow.

Seems this wasn’t posted. Gavin Newsom forgot to say he was a democrat before the deadline passed

"Many people, including myself, disagree with the Governor and his decisions and wish someone different could be governor. Nevertheless," is quite a ringing endorsement

That's kind of not what he said though.

There is a concept in literature called "subtext," where statements carry implicit meaning that can be understood by readers despite never being explicitly stated. In this case, an extraordinarily tepid endorsement, on the filing deadline, by a man who ran against Newsom and lost in the last election, carries more than a little hint of "should've been me."

Not saying he won’t survive the recall cause he ultimately will but considering a huge increase in gas tax as of July 1st, mask issues/drama with California schools, and now certain counties are thinking of bringing back their mask mandates just one month after dropping them, not to mention Newsom won’t have a letter (D) next to his name. I think this will be a little closer than some think.

While I'm quoting my previous posts on this thread, I would also like to point out that I was right about this:

Given how fractured the republican field is, I think the one serious democrat running in the recall will get an all county sweep with pluraities or majorities in every country.

There is no serious Democrat currently running in the recall, and there won't be. Gavin Newsom will not be on the same ballot as Doug Ose and Kevin Faulconer and John Cox and Caitlyn Jenner and all the other occupants of the clown car; there will be one question on the ballot asking whether to recall Newsom, and another asking whom to replace him with.

Caitlyn Jenner is not a serious candidate and will not get any meaningful share of the vote. That being said, if I were a California voter (I'm registered in Georgia although I'm currently physically in California), I would vote no on recall and for Caitlyn Jenner, since that would be the most embarrassing choice to Republicans.
I'm sure the democrats are going to send out one serious canidate, telling people just to vote no on the recall leaves room for disaster.

They absolutely will not. Cruz Bustamante's slogan of "no on recall, yes on Bustamante" in 2003 was generally regarded as disastrous and will not be repeated.

There’s at least one ASP and SWP candidate each running. I’m still mad that the PFP is so cucked out that they bowed down from running for California Dems to not remove them from the Ballot.

The eight Democrats:

MeetKevin ® Paffrath, a “landlord influencer” and YouTuber who is probably the most credible Democratic candidate — he’s one of two (Drake is the other) who has a campaign website.

Patrick Kilpatrick, an actor who has made a business out of playing action film villains. Kicked into a furnace by Jean-Claude Van Damme (1990’s Death Warrant), PreCrime officer in Minority Report (2002), eaten by a killer whale in Free Willy 3: The Rescue and, as Mercenary #2, was killed by a former Governor of California (1996’s Eraser).

Holly L. Baade, a “spirit-initiated shaman” who operates a retreat center up in Marin.

John R. Drake, a college student whose bio says that he has been “interest[ed] in Politics since I was in Middle School. While most kids were trading Pokémon cards on the playground, I was reading political theory and catching up on world events.” (Possible Atlas Forum user??)

Jacqueline McGowan, “cannabis consultant” whose campaign is entirely about weed.

Daniel Watts, an attorney who ran as a 20-y/o UCSD student in the 2003 recall. Seems pretty cool tbh

Joel Ventresca, retired airport analyst and perennial candidate

Brandon Ross, M.D., owner of La Mesa Medical Hair Restoration, Inc.

And the third party/NPP candidates, roughly (roughly) ordered by seriousness/credibility:

Angelyne: needs no introduction

Jeff Hewitt: former mayor of Calimesa and current member of the Riverside County Board of Supervisors, Libertarian nominee. Positive: the only one of any of these people to ever win an election. Negative: multiple accusations of sexual harassment

Dan Kapelovitz: criminal defense attorney, former editor for Hustler. Seems like the more credible of the two Greens running.

Michael Loebs: political science adjunct at SFSU, chair of the California National Party

Dr. James Hanink: retired philosophy professor at Loyola Marymount, American Solidarity Party candidate

Adam Papagan: tour guide and owner of Cool LA Tours (offering The O.J. Tour, The #PumpRules Tour, etc.)

Dennis Richter: Walmart employee, Socialist Workers Party candidate

Heather Collins: owns a salon, seems to be mad about masks? Running as a Green for some reason

Denis Lucey: substitute teacher whose main issue seems to be child custody law reform

Jeremy Marciniak, Major Singh, David Moore: literally nothing on the internet about these people

I guess my vote right now is Lean Airport Dude.

Bonus points for his website still hosting his campaign for SF Mayor in 2019.

I wonder whether Faulconer and Cox will just continue campaigning for 2022 once the recall has been rejected?

If Newsom doesn't win by double-digits, he shouldn't run for re-election. It will hurt downballot where there are already too many very conservative Republicans winning in places they shouldn't be.

Cox shouldn’t he already lost in 2018

Faulconer yes but he needs more name recognition. Honestly he’s a much stronger candidate IMO. Pretty socially liberal (for Republican standards) which fits better with CA. Is pro choice and attends pride in SD
