search for state legislatures on wikipedia. It lists all states with all numbers.

Wikipedia is where I got most of my numbers, but Wikipedia is incomplete. I began searching state legislature websites and got another 10 or so that way. But the blanks are basically the ones Wikipedia did not have and the ones I have not yet searched for on Google. Often times, state legislature websites will have lists of members and their parties (and may separate them by Dem/Rep caucus) but it is still a pain to count them up.

Member information for IL can be found at www.ilga.gov. Currently the Senate is 31D - 27R - 1I (52.5% D), and the House is 65D - 53R (55.1% D).

Thanks.

The National Conference of State Legislatures has some interesting charts of party breakdown, including maps, legislatures by women membership and historical data...

But I'm not sure the data is properly updated to reflect recent special elections...

Currently Texas is as follows:

House: 19R-12D (61.3%)
Senate: 86R-64D (57.3%)

Aren't these reversed? (I would assume that the House has more people than the Senate.)

You're right.  My mistake for typing too quickly.

How's New York's House so overwhelmingly Democrat; yet its Senate, Republican?

The irony of NM is that, despite the percentages, it is much more possible for the Reps to take the House than the Senate.

Mind you, that would require them to have some f***ing brains, so don't count on either one happening this decade. Roll Eyes
