Let's say Republicans are completely embarrassed in November. Could the Lincoln Project build upon what they started in 2020 and become a center-right, sane alternative to the lunacy that is now the GOP? Have Republicans become so tarnished as a brand, that many state and local party members, especially in the Northeast, all jump ship?

No.

The Lincoln Project will either fade into oblivion, turn on the Democrats on January 21, or just become full on RINO dirtbag centrists who switch back and forth between supporting Ds and Rs.

They've already confirmed that they'll vehemently support Biden's agenda should he win the presidency, & the creation of a 3rd-party (however moderate) would very much run antithetical to doing so, so no.

The formation of CHUK damaged Labour by adding to the sense of incompetence, but they were never in a position to replace the Lib Dems, let alone the Labour Party.

If Lincoln Project types try to start up a party, I suspect it will go about as well as CHUK's did.

The Tiggers were actual elected politicians. Lincoln Project is more akin to the People's Vote campaign...

The Lincoln Project folks are having way too much fun in their current situation.  Trying to form a working third party would be a whole lot more work and not nearly as rewarding.  So I doubt it.

They are not going to be nearly relevant enough to be able to do that.

The future is clear. As the Republican party becomes poised to become the QAnon Party, the Democratic Party is going to then become a catch-all, big-tent party that still mostly is left of center. If the anti-Trump ex-Republicans want to have any sort of influence on politics, and still remain disgusted at the GOP's perpetual devolution, their only choice is to become Democrats.

Our politics is going to get simpler post-Trump. It's straight-up going to be good faith (the Democrats) versus bad faith (the GOP) when it comes to governing as the most basic distinctions. if that isn't good enough for anyone, then they are dooming themselves to remain a political orphan.

I think they’ll mainly be a group advocating for the interests of ex-Republican college-educated whites. People like Josh Gottheimer or Abigail Spanberger would be their bread and butter.
