I don't want to pretend that I am representative of "the American voter," or even that I can vote, but this convention has made the starkest case I've ever seen for how important it is to vote. There is this feeling in my chest, this passion, this sense that it is so overwhelmingly important to cast a ballot, that I've never experienced before. I was obviously infinitely more enthusiastic about Hillary Clinton, but I still never had this feeling. I have to hope that others are starting to realize the imperative of the moment.

I can't believe we went from someone as incredible as Obama to this orange clown

It’s a pendulum. Bush was a redneck idiot who couldn’t string a sentence together and only got anywhere because of his family name. We elected his total opposite, an incredibly smart and eloquent, well-spoken black man who earned his success. Now in reaction we’ve got a racist idiot even more incoherent than Bush and even less deserving of his “success.”

W. isn't stupid. In fact, he's actually very intelligent. That whole "W. is stupid" thing is only a result of his awful public speaking skills:

Trump’s meltdown to Obama's brilliant speech ought to be the story.

Tonight was soothing. No real other way to put it.

I won't be there Thursday, but tonight did its job. Giffords, the immigration section, Obama himself. Even as someone who isn't a fan of Kamala or her speech, tonight killed whatever second thoughts I had.

Remember what happened the last time we crowned a successor over a full term out? We got Trump instead.

Awfully bold of you to pinpoint that as the cause of Trump 2016.

It was certainly a big help. it really speaks to the stranglehold the Clintons have over the Democratic party that someone that noxious was able to still get the nomination.

Watching Kamala's speech, it's wild thinking about how her & her campaign team managed to just completely bungle her primary campaign.

2016 was a time when we could go outside without having to wear a mask. Refighting that primary is old news at this point guys (at least in this context).

False. Obama did the exact same thing at the 2008 convention after Biden spoke. Can't recall regarding 2012, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Obama did it then too, after Bill Clinton spoke.

So, yeah: please shut the hell up, BRTD.

Harris and Obama dominated.

Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton’s spots were great as well.

Is anyone else a little disappointed with Harris's speech? Her references to her family were powerful, but overall the speech just.... Underwhelmed? Maybe I had too high expectations based on her beautiful ripping the f*** out of Kavanaugh during the hearings now and expected the equivalent fire and ball kicking passion from a stump speech.

You could really tell how revered Barack Obama is in the democratic party. 25 minutes out of their hour of prime time were devoted to him. They were minutes well spent. The clip of him awarding the medal of freedom to Joe Biden at the end of the term is a clear signal to anyone who cares about his opinions of how he feels about the man. His speech was powerful and very motivating, even as someone who's been disenchanted with democrats at times in the past 5+ years. I'm itching to get involved, and I want to cast my ballot for Joe Biden right now.

It was her nomination speech. The point of the speech was to share her life & story with the nation. Kamala will go back on the hunt after the convention and she will be ready to skewer Mike Pence on October 7th. Don't worry!

I was expecting average and got average. Seems to be a theme with Harris. Should be enough this year, but doesn't speak particularly well to her chances if (when) she runs for the presidency again.
