Oh cool. Now we get to hear from the guy who lied to the UN about Iraq.

Bush paints pictures of veterans, so it's all good now.

Even if Colin Powell might not have been my top choice for this, I guarantee you this is the part of the show that makes it so that we don't have to worry about winning Virginia in November anymore.

While obviously true, I would guess he is still far and away the most popular figure from the Bush presidency.

God knows I have major issues with John McCain, but this is good stuff. We gotta build a big coalition for November 3rd, and McCain's thumbs down undoubtedly saved lives.

That's a very, very, very low bar.

I can't think of a better example of someone "leaving it all on the field" during the final years of their life.

The guy literally has no voice left and is still speaking at a national political convention.

I always thought Cheney was behind that WMD bs and knew it would be easy to make the black man the fall guy. That's why Powell resigned but Cheney went out telling the public he was fired.

And I'm sure they got permission first. As pro-free market as Republicans are they sure do like to use other people's music without permission.

So you do have a proper rebuttal to my post or are you just gonna be an asshole for no reason?

I'm gonna be an asshole and say "Create your own thread about him" rather than using the DNC thread to air your political grievances

I had a grievance related to the DNC, so I decided to bring it up in the proper thread.

I'd also like to remind the thread that 90% of my detractors on this subject live in safe blue states. In Oregon, California, and New York, they don't have to worry about assaults on the Democratic vote. They don't have to worry about voter suppression. Republicans can introduce voter ID bills or try to strip college students of their right to vote and they can be safely voted down. They have the privilege of living in a safe blue state, where they don't have to worry about a Republican Party cheating the system. They don't care about the plight New Hampshire has been because they'll never have to worry about it.

That's why they're moving the goalposts and name-calling. Deep down, they know what I say is true.

Who would have guessed ten years ago that an entire prime time lineup for the 2020 DNC would include the architects of the Iraq War and a tribute to John McCain haha

I don't think you're wrong at all. I do think that outrage is unconstructive and you'd be better off if you calmed down a bit. And I don't think that guy showing up at the DNC actually matters one way or another.

Given how the Tea Party acted and how disgustingly they treated Obama, it was only a matter of time.

The Iraq War ended nearly a decade ago and has stopped being a relevant political issue. This is like suggesting having pro-Vietnam War people at a 1980s DNC is some big "gotcha."

Democrats have always liked John McCain when he wasn't in a general election against a Democrat. They liked him attacking George W. Bush in the 2000 primaries; Kerry considered him as a running mate at one point to troll the GOP; they liked him sticking it to evangelicals like Huckabee in 2008; and they liked him destroying Republicans' pitiful attempt to repeal the ACA in 2017.
