I still think the strategy was way off. They basically had all the money in the world to send these people to neat places and make these canned videos feel special. Instead, we get the Obama basement.

Why not send her to a national park with a first-rate camera crew? Why not shut down the Statue of Liberty for a day and send Bernie there to deliver his remarks? I know they want to avoid drawing a crowd, but there are plenty of isolated places they could have gone to do something powerful.

This is so flat, and it didn’t have to be that way if they were willing to inject some creativity into the process.

Do Americans want to see political figures casually visiting all the places we've been deprived from for months just to give a speech? Or would we rather see them just as cooped up as the rest of us?

They could have just used a green screen at the very least tbh

Agreed completely this is a mess. But I will wait for the convention proper to judge.

I like seeing candidates at home myself. Makes them feel more human, like a new age fireside chat.

It's gonna be so weird having these speeches be delivered from living rooms to no audience.

Part of the convention spectacle is the big echo and the crowd roaring, all the reaction shots.

Hopefully it doesn't just feel like a series of YouTube videos.

I'm hoping they'll be at scenic locations with professional camera crews. If not I'll be highly upset.

I can't confirm anything but a certain Mayor is scheduled to speak at a scenic location.

I've said it before but I like that conventions in the past 50-60 years have turned into huge spectacles. Most of the time politics is boring and solemn. Conventions (and Inauguration Day....until Trump) are way to escape the typical boringness of politics.

I hope that this convention is not just pre-recorded speeches and musical performances. Also, I hope that nothing goes wrong with the audio/visuals of the videos.

My guess is Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

I think you should post them even if it somehow goes perfectly. Death of Stalin rocks!

Nope!

Just a little bit of gossip from said mayor's spouse.

Who are you most excited to watch tonight?

Doug Jones, Gretchen Whitmer, or John Kasich.

Jones because I'd like to see him get a boost in the Senate race.

Whitmer because I think she has a bright future in the party.

Kasich because I'm curious to see what he'll say.

Good thing I'm not doing a drinking game for the CNN coverage. Not even 10 minutes and I'd be drunk already from the amount of times they've mentioned "They go low, we go high"

Watching the ABC Youtube stream. PBS has one too but their coverage is a bit less... lively in my opinion. ABC has Heitkamp and a few other interesting characters.

I've thought of some chants for the Democrats (imagine a hall full of delegates saying these as you sit at home):

Build Back Better
Stronger Together

Kamala Harris for the People
Trump's performance is Medieval

Ho, ho, ho Trumps gotta go
That's why I'm voting for Joe

Bastón really did a great job. It sets the tone for the rest of the convention.

This is a pretty neat celebration of America so far.  I'm enjoying it.
