Lmao
This doesn't make any sense. Why would Joe mention things he's already accomplished in a speech where he's pitching his plan if he was elected?

Edit: not that making zero sense is new for Donny.

Let us go ahead and eulogize Donald Trump’s presidency now, shall we?

“Let us never speak of it again, under penalty of torture.”

That about does it, don’t you think?

The RNC anger fest and Trump's speech is going to pale in comparison to this convention.

yeah after tonight speech

It would not be surprised me at all if we see some in the GOP try to get Trump to abandon this "Biden has dementia theme"

the lowered expectation and Biden far surpassed them
Trump and the GOP would be foolish to keep doing this heading into the first debate after this speech

That was the best speech I’ve ever seen from Biden.

He’s a deeply compassionate and empathetic man, who will be an excellent president.

They are entirely critical to building a winning coalition. These are sensible Americans who want a change.

Okay, but Kasich, Powell, or a Republican veteran aren’t going to be the reasons why suburban Republicans vote for Biden. The fact that he’s not Trump is good enough for them. imo you may as well use this convention to give more time to people like Yang or AOC, who are actually Democrats and can energize the base to turnout.

This.  Also, as someone else pointed out, all this "text vote to 30330" stuff makes it sound like a telethon.  They need to give people a reason to vote, not just say "Vote, damnit!"

Totally!

I think the risk is they wouldn't vote at all.

I'll actually give credit to the anti-Trump Republicans and say most of them would still vote even if the Democrats didn’t reach out to them as much as they are now. They know the stakes.

I think a limited deployment was smart. Kasich and Powell were the main two.

But I have no problem at all with Republican voters explaining their opposition to the Trump disaster, These are people, and their voice is both useful and important.

If it was one or two, I may not have said anything, but the DNC highlighted an absurdly high number of former Republican voters who are voting for Biden. And that's on top of all of the Republican elected officials. It was a bit much. We might have to agree to disagree though.

I read an article today about how Trump has been obsessing (including calling aides at all hours of the night) about making the RNC as "spectacular" as the DNC. Somehow that led to the Covington Kid and the gun couple from St. Louis being invited. Evidently Jared Kushner may give a speech as well. I cannot think of something more boring than listening to that man talk. So yes, the RNC is shaping up to be hot mess.

I'd say it was the best speech of the convention that wasn't made by the Obamas. In many ways, I liked Bidens speech more than Baracks. Got me a little misty-eyed.

It was the type of speech that causes me to wonder if Trump will try to reduce the debate schedule or be forced to downplay the "Biden is senile" strategy

Joe basically said everything that needed to be said, phrased it all perfectly, and absolutely nailed the delivery.  Really not a lot more you can ask for, especially from a speech with no audience.

Waiting for Scott Jennings on CNN to tie himself into knots to explain why the speech was terrible and the Democrats are doomed.  Really wish CNN wouldn't bring these hacks on who just play devil's advocate and don't have real opinions.

No joke, I had tears too.  And I'm about as jaded as it gets--this moment just feels consequential.

It was quite good. Biden doesn't have a reputation as an orator like Obama, so I wasn't expecting much. Going in, I expected something average that safely hit the bases but didn't do much else. I was worried he'd stumble on his delivery in a way that would have the MSM repeating the Trump campaign's "senile Biden" lies. It was better than I expected. Real emotion, a hopeful but plausible vision for America's future, and a passionate appeal, along with a lot of effective little bits. Easily on par with many of Obama's better speeches. Biden may not have quite knocked it out of the ballpark, but I think it's fair to call it a home run.
