I would vote for Haley.  I appreciate that she sticks by her conservative guns while not feeling an overly pressing need to dumb down her ideology into some red meat for reactionaries.  She doesn't have any VIEWS that are "RINOish" (ala Baker or Huntsman or even Rudy  back in the day), and I would see her as a viable vehicle to restore some dignity to conservatism.  I also would like to see her aggressively and unapologetically attempt to shed the GOP's image as racially intolerant, helping to articulate that things like opposing illegal immigration or supporting our government maintaining law and order can be positions taken for other reasons (this should be obvious, but alas...).

The rest are all okay, I guess.  I would just as soon move on from Trump/Pence, though.

Yes, that's the only good thing about Haley, but she reminds me a bit of Dubya, and as quite hawkish on foreign policy, as well as economically very right-wing. Socially, she wouldn't be a disaster like Trump, but i'm more sold on the populist wing of the GOP which actually have a shot of winning the working class of large numbers for them. And in stead of promises that aren't being kept, someone who could bring real change to America and the GOP wouldn't hurt. I reject Trumpism, corruption and the neoliberal / neoconservative ideologies of the last 20-30 years. If Nixon didn't had watergate, and Ford wouldn't pardon him, they would actually have been the last good republicans in my view. I know it's different to what you believe in, but these are my beliefs. I hope if a Republican has to be president, it's going to be Josh Hawley. I really believe he could transform the GOP into a much, better party and while still socially conservative, more support for improving the economy in rural areas, and getting jobs back / creating jobs. But there is a chance it's just going to be empty words just like Donald Trump.

I guess I am not entirely sold on the GOP winning "working class" voters BECAUSE they're that populist (on actual economic policies), haha.  Republicans like Scott Walker and John Kasich were the ones trailblazing through the Midwest for the GOP, after all.  Sure, you can't run as a Randian, but I don't think a "populist" Republican has to be a "Trumpist" Republican.  John Kasich was a populist.  Hell, George W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Dwight Eisenhower and Abraham Lincoln were populists, in some way! Tongue

Haley by default, none of the other options even deserve consideration

My top 9 are pretty interchangeable at this stage and could easily change between now and then.

My current approximate rankings:

1. Cruz
2. Tim Scott
3. Pence (not #1 because of a desire to move on from the Trump administration)
4. Haley
5. Abbott
6. Rick Scott
7. Pompeo
8. DeSantis
9. Hawley
----------MASSIVE GAP--------------------
10. Kanye
11. Owens
12. Trump Jr.
13. Carlson

Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis, and Tim Scott are the only ones I would vote for in a general election.

Write in Jon Huntsman

Nikki Haley

- large gap -

Josh Hawley

- even larger gap -

Everyone else

Would never vote for any in a general election. DeSantis could have been third before the pandemic, but now he's lucky to be above last, and that's even with Kanye on the list.

Tim Scott or pre-COVID DeSantis. Would also like Marco Rubio. Abbott would be good, Cruz would be ok but probably would not win. I liked Pence at first but not as much anymore. If I had to pick a populist I'd go with Hawley

I would never vote for any of them of course, but Hawley or Haley would bring me the least existential doom.

Hawley seems to be the least ideologically objectionable, and he'd have a strong chance due to resembling something of out central casting.

These are my preferences in order for the 2024 GOP nominee. Think Haley is the most qualified but I would not be opposed to Kanye's candidacy because he's another outsider like Trump.

1. Nikki Haley
2. Kanye West
3. Mike Pence
4. Ron DeSantis
5. Rick Scott
6. Tim Scott
7. Candace Owens
8. Ted Cruz
9. Greg Abbott
10. Mike Pompeo
11. Josh Hawley
12. Donald Trump Jr.
13. Tucker Carlson
