Pennsylvania continues to the the state that worries me the most, especially since mail votes aren't even counted until after election day.

If he succeeds, that's the state it'll be.

They are definitely going to try to steal the election.

They may succeed.

Except a large part of PA (population wise) is starting to count mailed in ballots on the morning of election day (7:00 AM, I believe), will be providing updates as they process them, and will continue 24/7 until they finish (see the EV thread).

Won't matter since it'll be a landslide.

Thanks! I lowkey don't really think things will be that bad in PA. With the new machinery and counting diligence of Philadelphia and it's suburbs, I kind of expect the night to go like this:

Midnight: 50% of Mail-ins counted: Trump +6

5AM: 75% of Mail-ins Counted: Biden takes lead

10AM: 82% of Mail Votes have been counted, Biden is declared the winner, leading by 2%

By Friday: Biden officially wins the state by 5.

Do you think this is a realistic timetable?

It all depends on how quickly they process the ballots. Plus, we don't have a reference point, given that all this is unprecedented in recent history, so we have no idea.

It's also possible that the SOS will hold back on releasing results until they have a sizable chunk (60%+) done.

Obviously, it’s scary that one political party is literally preparing to steal the election.

At the same time, I think people really overestimate what the GOP could actually do to steal the election. If PA comes down to 1000 votes, sure, but if Biden is winning well over 300 EVs there is little they can do

I thought they didn't start counting them until three days after, when the deadline for postmarked ballots is--was I mistaken?

Do you mean total or mail?

I honestly would be OK if they did this, because it would limit Panic and baseless accusations of Fraud.

To my understanding, they're going to process the ballots as they receive them up until the deadline.

The fact that they think MN and NV will be close enough to steal shows just how detached from reality they are.

Also how fixated they are on flipping a Clinton state. It’s NOT going to happen.

That's exactly what he's saying... Even though their results can't be considered "final" for three days, they can start counting 7AM election day.

Trump is gonna do everything necessary to override the PVI winner and get in on a technicality. Do you hear Trump in these speeches, saying that Biden wants a socialist America.

Which is partly true, just because Biden is elected, on Nov 4th or Jan 21st, there is no utopia where Covid don't exist

I get Pennsylvania, I can even sort of see Minnesota, but Nevada was never going to be part of a trump column unless if we were talking about ceiling, and his ceiling is getting harder to reach

My prediction is that Trump loses but stays in power via the Supreme Court.

I'm actually less worried about this now than I was three months ago.

Prior to Ginsburg's death and McConnell stealing her seat, a Supreme Court ruling that handed a disputed election to Trump with a 5-4 decision would have been seen as legitimate. Much like 2000, Democrats would have been unhappy, but would have ultimately done little of consequence and President Trump's second term would have been seen as legal, even if unwelcome. The impetus would have been towards winning future elections in order to reform the system and take back the Court.

But now? Moscow Mitch and the Republicans have destroyed both their own legitimacy and that of the Supreme Court. If the Court attempts to hand the election to Donald now, it's going to end in a civil war. As is often the case with evil, the Republicans' lust for power has destroyed their ability to actually gain anything. The most they can accomplish is destroying the country along with themselves. (That would be terrible for all Americans, and good only for their Russian owners.)

A president threatening to cancel or stop vote counting to stay in power and use his appointed court nominees as a tool to do so is not normal and should be treated with the seriousness it deserves.

I agree. This is unprecedented and deserves to be treated like it. It would be a historic catastrophe that essentially ends the short period of decent-ish American democracy we've had since the 70s or so.

DeJoy promised this kind of stuff back during his hearing, and instead we've had tremendous delays in critical swing states and ballots piling up in post offices while Republican lawyers work overtime to get ballots delivered or counted after election day thrown out.

In other words, what Democrats said was going to happen is what actually happened, and everything DeJoy and the Republicans promised was a lie.  What a shock!

If we lived in a country of laws DeJoy would be held in contempt and jailed until the end of the election.
