This freaking year .... Good decision on his part.

We're getting to the point where his death would seriously F things up, so even though it's a fringe possibility, it should be mitigated.

The NYT says that it's not just Biden.  The only people to attend the convention in person will be a handful of delegates / Dem. officials who already live in Wisconsin, so the VP nominee, Perez, etc., will not go either:

It's the right thing to do. What's frustrating is that it'll be spun as "Biden is afraid of the virus" by people who don't know the difference between fear & good sense.

I wonder if the speech will be pre-taped or live.

I have a stronger feeling now that the Presidential debates will be virtually done.

This is the good, common sense choice - no matter how Fox tries to spin this.

Imagine if Joe Biden ends up never campaigning in Wisconsin and then winning the state.

There is still gonna be coverage, and the speech will be done virtually and it will be broadcast. It's not going to be a big coverage like you're used to.

Joe Biden winning, and possibly in a landslide, even as he puts in far less effort than Hilary Clinton ever did is the funniest feature of this election. Not even making fun of Joe Biden here, I honestly admire how amazingly his strategy of vibing in the basement is going. Dudes rock.

I guess I’m the only one who thinks this is a mistake. Biden could charter his own plane, take a road trip... there are ways to get there and stay there without significantly increasing his risk of contracting COVID-19. It is important that the convention speech stands out as something that is different and more elevated than his other speeches. I am not sure how he can accomplish that without going somewhere somewhat special.

This is the responsible thing to do.  One of the biggest knocks against Trump is his poor handling of COVID-19 and fact he is not taking it seriously so Biden by following guidelines, wearing a mask, and social distancing can use that against Trump that he takes pandemic seriously and is following advice of experts, not thumbing his nose at them as Trump is.

Then again it could look like Wisconsin is sexist.

Well considering Trump made a rally mask-optional in an indoor arena, it's best to make yourself look wise in regards to public health.

Remember, Trump’s campaign is living in a fantasy land of ~40% of the country that thinks the biggest problems we face are Antifa, cancel culture, and Confederate statues. They think the pandemic isn’t a big deal, and that Biden is senile. They are a minority and won’t win.

What does all of that have to do with Biden's acceptance speech?

It relates to Biden’s speech because Trump’s campaign is already trying to use the remote speech to attack him for “abandoning Wisconsin.” Voters won’t punish Biden for doing this, is my point.

I think it'll be done in Washington, D.C. and not virtually as it could get wildly out of control. It'll be similar to how Biden & Bernie did it.
