As an Independent, I'll reveal the policy positions I hate most from both parties:

Democrats: Free-trade

Republicans: Overreliance on religion

Republicans: Too evangelical, fanatical on abortion, tone-deafness on police brutality
Democrats: Too SJW, doesn't understand middle class voters

I dispute that Republicans are fiscally conservative, since 1980 at least. You cant be a fiscal conservative if you support big time increases in the biggest item of the non-SS budget (defense), regardless of how much you want to cut on a couple of 2% items. Its rather like buying a new Lamborgini every year while getting rid of 1 topping on the pizza to save money.

And this doesn't even count the tax side of the budget.
