In Ohio, 49 percent of likely voters approve of the job President Trump is doing in office, while 50 percent approve in Pennsylvania.

Sure they do.

Why? The Ohio poll seems a bit Biden friendly and the PA poll seems a bit Trump friendly, but they don't seem to be complete trash.

Pennsylvania isn't going to be to the right of Ohio, but into the average they go.

Yeah, it's a wave if Biden is leading in OH, in a Rassy poll.

Seems like people are wanting to throw a lot of polls in the garbage lately.

I'm skeptical about PA being to the right of OH, but I think polls like this should be thrown into the average.  It's a good thing that polls don't line up because herding can become a thing and lead to a big miss.

Pennsylvania is actually the only state Trump flipped where he gained more votes over Romney than Hillary lost from Obama so its not impossible they could be on to something.

As an Ohioan. I will say if Biden somehow gets improved turnout in western Ohio (Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus) while Trump continues to get amazing turnout in western and central PA, Perhaps OH voting to the left of PA isn't completely impossible,

Florida ?

Both candidates gained votes there over 2012. In much of the Rust Belt that flipped, Trump gained over Romney and Hillary lost over Obama--but in all but PA Hillary's losses were significantly larger than Trump's gains, PA was the exception.

I hold Trump in lower esteem than I did a couple weeks ago. I still don't entirely trust Biden either which is why i'm currently endorsing the libertarians. I have supported third parties in the past.

In recent weeks Biden has made an effort to go towards the center on some issues, he is supporting a stronger line on trade which is different then his past support for free trade. His buy American plan which was seen as a shift towards a populist economic message. This election is not just about the policies of the two candidates, but about the restoration of dignity and honor to the White House, for these past 4 years there has been a battle in Washington between respected age-old institutions and the outsider message of President Trump. If your goal in November is to see someone other than Trump in the White House then voting for Biden is the choice for you.

A few eyebrows on these two polls, but throw it in the mix I guess.

Not sure offhand what their 538 rating is but we'll get more polls from PA and OH before too long and can parse them at will, as is the nature of Atlas / Talk Elections.   Wink

If Ohio is at Biden +4, then the election is decided.

Worth noting that Biden is +5 in PA when "leaners" are taken into account.

No fan of Rasmussen, but it is good that they put out these internally inconsistent polls (OH being to the left of PA), since it is pretty good evidence that they are not fiddling with the numbers.

People are really taking Rasmussen seriously? When it was done for a far-right rag blog? With Trump's approval at 50% in Pennsylvania? With Ohio voting to the left of PA? Are you guys kidding me?

Not to mention the OH poll is useless. 10% undecided in a swing state is like a 2016 poll over all again.
