Mostly FF. I could see getting annoyed if someone spraypaints your home or business but when it's on fences, bridges, signs I think it adds a lot of character to a neighborhood. Plus it's great for photography.

Couldn’t agree more with that statement. Graffiti, at least the more complex pieces in Chicagoland, shows true craft and communal identity that encapsulates what’s in this city.

True story: one of the most powerful pieces of art I ever saw was a poem written inside a bathroom stall at my high school.

Quote
Some come here to sh!t and stink
Others come here to sit and think
I come here to scratch my balls
And read the bullsh!t on the walls

Artist unknown.

Vandalism. Especially in public spaces. At worst it is a direct assault on the artistic licenses of the building/landscape architect. At best it creating a bunch of work to fix.

Murals through proper channels is a different matter of course.

If you want to do street art, get permission from the building.  Most buildings would love to host legitimate artwork on their walls.  Me personally, the graffiti art PSOL posted is the polar opposite of my building's "secret garden" aesthetic and would look totally out of place, so I'd want it somewhere else but not on my building.  But if you did a bunch of butterflies or something I'd be down with that.

The problem is that a lot of people think they're artists but they actually just suck.

And of course 99% of graffiti isn't art at all, it's just random slogans or advertising or gang symbols or names.

Totally depends. Most of it I’ve seen sucks though, so overall I guess HP. Only the best of the best is worth it.

At best it's a work of art and at worst it's a somewhat annoying form of non-violent protest.

It's vandalism, albeit a usually innocuous variant of it, I'll go lean HP

Is that a variation on the following poem?

Here I sit broken hearted
Tried to sh*t but only farted
Then one day I took a chance
Tried to fart but sh*t my pants
