I'm not going to have children...but no.

Football is dangerous, unsafe, and I hope it gets outlawed. That said, if parents want to make the choice to continue to have their kids play it for as long as it is legal, I see no reason to stop them. It's their kids lives they are throwing away.

Do you think Pat Mahomes lasts with the big contract he got?

He might stay healthy all that time, but there's no way that contract doesn't get renegotiated at some point in the future.

Yes, of course.  Some of my favorite childhood memories are from playing football.

Yes, I would.

If opposition to football becomes the next progressive social cause, that will go over really terribly for them with most of the country.

If my son wanted to play it then sure, he'll be playing tball, flag football, soccer, all those sports like that, and after a few years he can decide which one's he wants to continue. I will be personally disappointed if he chooses soccer though.

I'd have to do some serious thinking on the subject.  FYI....my parents didn't, LOL.

Once they're old enough to make such decisions and I inform him/her of the risks, then of course.  It's not like it's 100% guaranteed to cause permanent harm, individuals should be able to chose to take risks that I don't necessarily think are good ideas, even my offspring.

One of my sons played a half season of freshman High School football and my mom told me I couldn't (though I'm sure I could have if I pressed the issue).

I didn't know there were any long lasting effects of football until after I stopped playing in 8th grade, would I have still played? Yes, but it's crazy how big this issue has become compared to a decade or two ago.

No because that sport is fake football.

I will let them play soccer though (ie real football) Tongue

Lean yes. I will want to evaluate the safety of the sport 15 years from now, but I love football so much its hard to envision the answer being no.

Probably. My dad and grandfather both played offensive line — where there's the most physical contact — in high school and college, so 8 total years. They're both still alive (56 and 84) without any related issues.

I played 4 years in high school and I enjoyed it. Didn't play in college though.

How is it possible to make such a dumb post in a random throwaway bronz thread?!

If they wanted to, but I’d never play myself, my mother didn’t let me play, and my mother’s parents didn’t allow her or her brother to play.

No. But then again I don't want kids at all, so the question is almost irrelevant to me. And if I did have a kid they probably wouldn't be very coordinated anyway, if their father is anything to go by.
