Masks were mandatory and ones with the Democratic Alliance logo printed on them were provided to all attending. Despite the large number of attendees, six foot social distancing was maintained between all persons. Thank you all for showing up here today.
Wherever you are from in our great city—Little Havana, Wynwood, Brickell, Hialeah—your presence here is an inspiration to me and a testament to the diversity of our city and the strength of our movement. Over five thousand people are here today to discuss the future of our great city, brought together by a shared hope for what we can be and a shared disappointment at the failures of the old two political parties.
Gathered here today, with the Atlantic Ocean behind us and Biscayne Bay to our right, we are reminded that the very natural environment which makes our city so special can destroy us if we do not treat it with care. That is why the Democratic Alliance has a comprehensive plan to stop the threat of climate change and build a Miami better equipped than ever before to withstand rising seas and intensifying hurricanes. And in doing this, we will build a better Miami—with stronger transportation networks, more housing, and better schools.
In these plans are the essence of the Democratic Alliance: Unity and Action. This is not an empty slogan—it is the only ethos that will work as we tackle the biggest problems of the 2020s together. When it comes to climate change, education, or infrastructure, we rise and fall together. Our city will either meet the challenge of climate change or together we will be subsumed by a rising sea.
Our city will either develop the human capital we need to compete against an ever-growing number of global metropolises or together, our businesses will fail and our workers will earn less.
Our city will either build the new infrastructure we need or we will all get stuck in the same traffic.
In this, there can be no factions. This is not a zero-sum game. The Labor party and the Federalists want you to believe that their radical economic agendas and extreme partisanship alone can fix the problems of Miami.
You know better. We know better.
Our city will overcome the obstacles before us and emerge better than ever before, but only if we come together and embrace a bold, inclusive vision that brings us together. And to do this will require putting a party with real plans become safer, stronger, and more prosperous in power. There is only one party that will do that, Miami.
It is time that we reject the old politics of division and inaction and vote Democratic Alliance for mayor. Together, we will rise!

De donde sea que usted sea en nuestra gran ciudad—La Pequeña Habana, Wynwood, Brickell, Hialeah—su presencia aquí es una inspiración para mí y un testimonio de la diversidad de nuestra ciudad y la fuerza de nuestro movimiento. Más de cinco mil personas están aquí hoy para discutir el futuro de Miami, unidas por una esperanza compartida de lo que podemos ser y una decepción compartida por los fracasos de los dos viejos partidos políticos.
Reunidos aquí hoy, con el Océano Atlántico detrás y la Bahía de Biscayne a nuestra derecha, recordamos que el entorno natural puede destruirnos si no lo tratamos con cuidado. Nuestra ciudad desarrollará el capital humano que necesitamos para competir contra un número cada vez mayor de metrópolis globales o juntos, nuestros negocios fracasarán y nuestros trabajadores ganarán menos.
Nuestra ciudad construirá la nueva infraestructura que necesitamos o todos nos quedaremos atrapados en el mismo tráfico.
En esto, no puede haber facciones. Esta no es una competencia entre partidos. El Partido Laborista y los Federalistas quieren que crea que sus programas económicos radicales y su partidismo extremo por sí solos pueden solucionar los problemas de Miami.
Eres más inteligente que eso. Somos más inteligentes que eso.
Nuestra ciudad superará los obstáculos que tenemos ante nosotros y emergerá mejor que nunca, pero solo si nos unimos y adoptamos una visión audaz que nos une. Y para hacer esto, será necesario que un partido con planes reales sea más seguro, más fuerte y más próspero en el poder. Solo hay un partido que lo hará, Miami.
Rechacemos la vieja política de división e inacción y votemos a la Alianza Democrática para alcalde. ¡Juntos, nos levantaremos!
