I think you seriously overestimate the influence of a party chair. Tongue The decline of TX GOP can be attributed to many things, none of which have anything to do with Allen West.

He was redistricted out of his seat in 2012 and lost to Democrat Patrick Murphy.  I have a feeling West makes more money not being in Congress.  His seat has been captured by Republican Brian Mast, who appears to be a stronger incumbent than West would ever have been.

I know that he lost his seat in redistricting, but what does that have to do? He could be running for chair of the Florida Republican Party, for example.
Did he find a consulting job in Houston or something?
