Quote
Private R polls show the president struggling even in conservative states, leading Mr. Biden by less than five points in Montana and trailing him in Georgia and even Kansas, according to G.O.P. officials who have seen the data

If Kansas votes for Biden, I'll vow to drink a Manhattan in celebration!

Trump's campaign song really ought to be the 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' theme or 'The Price is Right' losing horn

I'd love to believe it, but these internals are being conducted by McLaughlin.

I know, but just the fact they are so embarrassing to Trump at all is delightful enough.

Oh lmao.

But are we sure these are Trump internals or internals from other Republican campaigns/groups? The article doesn't necessarily say the internals are from the Trump campaign.

Like I said, I don’t buy the Trump +14 poll, and it’s definitely closer than that right now. Maybe not this close, but Trump +8 or something very close to that (with narrow but consistent leads for Gianforte and Bullock).

That should make them skewed to be more favorable to Trump if anything then.

Plus I bet the campaign wants actual polls that are reasonably accurate to work with. Even if they delude the public or even Trump himself with fake polls.

KANSAS?!?

That only happens if Biden is up, like, 15 nationally.

Which isn’t far off from where high quality polls have found him lately.

The article says the Trump campaign is keeping him happy by telling him he’s doing well in Maine lol.

I don’t think he’ll actually lose the state, but this should give the people who think KS-SEN is Safe R with Marshall pause.

Where's the proof that McLaughlin did those?

We know Trump paid McLaughlin to do *some* internal polling, but it doesn't mean that they are doing *all* the internal polling.

Meanwhile, some people think these are fake (Trump team making it up) but I don't buy that. They wouldn't embarrass themselves by adding in Kansas.

Montana is believable. Obama nearly won it in 2008.

Kansas - yeah, I understand it voted wildly for Trump last time. But KS also seems like a very moderate Republican state. Governor and Prez are not the same thing, but they did vote for Laura Kelly. It IS possible. And it's entirely possible that a lot of those moderate Republicans completely soured on Trump.

People like to keep assuming that things like that can't happen just b/c of a state's recent history. When some polls show Biden up 14% nationally... honestly, anything is possible at this point. We're in an unprecedented situation with a historically unpopular president.

Yeah, why are people acting as if that's a surprise? We've had multiple polls now of him near or at 14.

I mean, the averages still have the national margin closer to 10, but yeah.

We've had Biden up slightly in Georgia for a few weeks now, but have yet to see him lead in Kansas. It's gotten close under a surge turnout model, but never a lead.

What polling company do you work for? How close has he been in Kansas? <5? <10?

I have a feeling we can have a diverse election. Where TX and GA can vote to left of NC, WI, AZ and FL.

Dallas is becoming an international city and is the 4th largest city in the US outside of LA, IL and NY
