Can a law and order NYC Republican win again?

Not really, he was wrong in this thread and everyone who said that a law-and-order Democrat could win was right. Even with that, Adams got lucky that Stringer  for reasons that had nothing to do with crime.

Also worth noting that despite everything, Hochul still won NYC 70-30.

70-30 is nothing to brag about in NYC. Subtract most of the Manhattan and other "white limousine liberal areas" - and what remains?? Of course - a majority, but - much lesser, then before. May be - Democrats went too far in their desire to "appease" "progressives", and forgot about all other people.... Democrats begin to have a problems with their base of the last decade  - Hispanics, Asians, even rural Blacks to some extent. And if they bleed them - not much remains.

It’s not impressive, but the thread’s about whether a law-and-order Republican can win an NYC mayoral election, and despite circumstances being almost as ideal for Republicans as possible, they couldn’t get close to a win the city. Ofc, there are easy ways to improve on Zeldin (no election denialism, being pro-choice, more willingness to fund city services, etc), but you’re basically just creating Eric Adams then.

Absolutely agree. Republicans need Eric Adams. Only - their own....

P.S. In the past Republicans were not ashamed to run Bloomberg (in addition to being "money bag" he was, essentially, moderate liberal Democrat on issues), and in the past - they were not ashamed to run Javits, Halpern, Kupferman, Green, Isaacs, and so on. If they want to win something really serious in generally liberal NYC - they need to learn from the past.
