I definitely like him better than Bush, McCain or Romney (and, as a person, Trump). I still would have been an enthusiastic Buchanan voter in the 1996 primary, though.

This read as if you like Trump better than Dole ... why?  Bob Dole was just as socially conservative, much less offensive and (as you say) a better person.
