Trump wins all of his 2016 states and Harris gets remembered as the worst VP pick in American history
Ever heard of Spiro Agnew?
Yes. Bungling an election against Trump in 2024 makes you a bigger mistake than Spiro Agnew

The fact that he had the confidence to say "house n-er" on live TV and laugh about it sums up everything wrong about him.
But he said it as part of a joke and wasn’t saying it in a racist manner. Honestly, the “White people can never say the n word, even with a soft r, no matter the context or else they’re canceled!!!” crowd is all HP. The n word is only unacceptable when the person clearly says it to be racist and belittle black people. Saying it as part of a joke is fine. Most black people don’t even care if a white guy says “n***a” as part of a joke

Well the old thread is getting pretty long anyway and Ses refuses to change the name for an absurd post because Sven is his friend.
https://talkelections.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=302397.0

Old thread there.
This thread is Massive HT (Horrible Thread). It’s just a place for people to go when they want to belittle someone’s post that they don’t agree with. I’d recommend deleting it asap

okay
Instead of being a condescending asshole acting like my post is worthy of mockery without any explanation, can you actually explain to me why saying the soft r n word makes you an automatic racist HP POS, no matter the context? Bill Maher was clearly not trying to be racist when he said the n word

Listen, I'm not sure why you think you have me all figured out based on ... one thread, but to answer your question briefly: the world is not divided into good people and klansmen. Death of the Author is not really applicable to language or symbols that exist in the real world, and if you can't see why a wealthy white man using that particular word in that particular context was not in the best taste, I can't help you.
What makes words offensive is context. Telling someone “f**k you” is offensive, while saying “f**k yeah!” is not offensive. Why is the n word the only word for which context is irrelevant. Saying the n word as part of a non-racist joke or saying it because it’s a lyric in a song you’re singing is obviously not racist, but saying something like “you n***ears need to get out of this town” obviously is horrible and racist. Why get mad at an adult for saying the n word to another adult in a non-racist manner? Context is what makes a word offensive, and the n word is no exception. Barely any black people actually get offended at a white person for saying the n-word in a light-hearted, non-racist manner. It’s mostly just subconsciously racist, politically correct liberals who are incredibly patronizing to black people and think that they know what’s best for black people.

Sorry Yang fanboy, that’s standard political forum stuff. If you can’t handle it then you don’t have to be here. But I think you can, since you do it yourself:

Her campaign was so cringe that she deserves to never be heard from again
Gillibrand’s campaign was much more of a joke than Yang’s campaign ever was. Saying that Yang needs to be treated MORE like a joke when MSM already goes around saying he’s an anti-Asian bigot who also supports hitting women is completely ridiculous and just makes you look like an establishment shill

His campaign slogan was literally MATH, a joke, a gimmick, you name it
Lol this comment itself deserves to be uploaded to this thread, if it wasn’t already here. Let me get this straight, Andrew Yang is a joke of a candidate because he had the audacity to create a slogan that served as a mockery of Trump’s infamous “MAGA”, while also managing to have the acronym of his slogan actually spell out a word? Wouldn’t this suggest that he’s actually a more serious candidate since he put enough thought into his slogan to have its acronym spell out a coherent word while also taking a shot at Trump? MATH is an objectively superior slogan than any other Democrat slogan in the primaries. The rest were so lame and forgettable that I can’t even remember any of them, not even Biden’s.

How are slogans a measure of seriousness?

They aren’t, but he’s the one who opened up that discussion, so I’m just saying if we’re gonna judge how much a of joke candidates are based on their slogan, than Yang would be the most serious candidate out there

What did I just read? A parody of MAGA is in no way a serious slogan. Are you really trying to argue that having a satirical, mocking slogan makes him a more serious candidate? Just wow

I don’t even know what MATH stands for, the only reason people paid it any attention is because he was clearly playing off of Asian stereotypes, which I f***ing hate
So making a witty slogan makes you an unserious candidate? This makes no sense dude. So every candidate has to make some lame, cheesy, forgettable slogan like “stronger together” or whatever in order to be serious?

So why exactly do you think North and South Dakota deserve to be their own state? Or why do  Vermont and NH deserve to be their own state? Don’t you think the vast population gaps between states is a bit ridiculous? It would be much healthier for our democracy if there was a minimum and maximum population per state, so that way these states that are so tiny that their Senators outnumber their representatives get a less disproportionate representation in the Senate, and by imposing a population cap, huge states like California and Texas can get more Senators by breaking up into smaller states. I’d say that every state should ideally have somewhere around 5 million residents. This would be a lot better than the system we had where only a few ten thousand people need to be living somewhere, and then a completely arbitrary border is drawn that locks in two Senators for this patch of dirt regardless of their population in the future

States don't need to prove they deserve to exist for political purposes.
Then for what purpose do they exist? The creation of a state is entirely political
Umm this is literally a fact dude...

The literal definition of “political” is “relating to the government or the public affairs of a country,” which creating a state does in fact do. Like seriously, name one state that was NOT created for political reasons

There might be a scientific reason to not do certain things like this but from the Republicans it's coming from a place of biblical fantasy so clear, easy shoot down for that.

I don’t see what’s wrong with this

Australia and Hawaii and US are all the greatest countries if I was rich I would take Family to Hawaii or Australia

Western Europe speaks English and so does Australia, Canada and Jamaica due to fact Anglican Church, or the Church of England were once Catholic Church, but Henry VIII wanted a divorce, Henry's cane to throne it because Richard II was gay and didn't have children, but Here's weren't in line for throne

Eastern Europe doesn't speak much English or Russia due to Lutheran Eastern Orthodox and much of Latin America speaks Portuguese or Spanish except for Puerto Rico

I am thinking that Donald Trump will win a clear majority in 2024 with a decent mandate, so this question is moot IMO. Assuming that Donald Trump instead ends up losing and that the 2024 map looks the same with the exception of North Carolina, Wisconsin, Nevada, and New Mexico and that he is unsuccessful in purging any elected officials opposed to his election rigging efforts, I would assume that the following Senators would object to the electoral college vote:

Josh Hawley
Ted Cruz
Tommy Tuberville
Roger Marshall
Rick Scott
John Kennedy
Cindy Hyde-Smith
Cynthia Lummis
Ron Johnson
Marsha Blackburn
Bill Haggerty
Mike Braun
Steve Daines
Lindsey Graham
Rand Paul
Marco Rubio
Chuck Grassley
Chris Sununu*
Adam Laxalt*
Herschel Walker*
Eric Grietens*
JD Vance*
Sean Parnell*
Mo Brooks*
Ted Budd*
Tulsi Gabbard**
Jim Jordan***
Carol Miller***
Scott Fitzgerald***
Dan Rodimer***
Elisa Martinez***
Matt Rosendale***

*elected to the Senate in 2022
**elected to the Senate in 2022 as a Trump-aligned Independent
***elected to the Senate in 2024

Probably the Senators I am least sure about are John Barrasso, Mike Lee, and Mark Brnovich. I am leaning towards Mike Lee voting against the objections, John Barrasso voting in favor of the objections (due to his comments regarding the proposed For The People Act a few months ago), and Mark Brnovich going either way. I assume that Josh Hawley, Adam Laxalt, Tulsi Gabbard, and Jim Jordan would be the strongest supporters of the objections in this scenario.
I don’t know what’s funnier, the idea that Tulsi Gabbard would overturn the election for Trump, or the idea that Tulsi Gabbard would presumably replace one of Hawaii’s Senators  in 2022

OK so I gave into the hype and watched one episode. And it… sucks? Like it’s the same exact premise that’s been done over and over again, except unintentionally(?) hilarious due to campy nonsense like the Playstation button bad guys and the childish “games” they are playing. It’s like some bizarre mash-up of The Hunger Games, Parasite, Saw, and some anime s—t. Also the acting is hilariously bad and the whole thing is just too over the top to take seriously.

I have no idea why this is so popular. Not original, not unique, not clever, not particularly well-made. Not even that exciting, so far at least; I was just bored most of the way through the first episode.

Well, I guess I can add this to a long and growing list of things that get insanely hyped up and which just don’t do it for me at all. Game of Thrones being the most notable example before this; I f—king hated that show and felt VERY redeemed when everyone else finally hated it at the end and pretended they never watched it, as if they hadn’t spent years badgering me to watch it.
Putting this here because he seemingly criticizes it for having “anime s—t”, which is just straight up incorrect. Being East Asian doesn’t mean that it can be described as anime-esque, especially when it’s not even from the right country. Also just a generally bad take about Squid Game imo, but that part’s subjective.

South Korea's Digital Auschwitz.

Not recommended for people under 18, yet 90% of people watching it will be under 18.

It would make sense I guess if the primary appeal of this is to Fortnite obsessed teenagers who think it is cutting edge because they’ve never seen any of the dozens of other movies or shows it is ripping off. Despite the gore and violence, the show seems very juvenile to me. And let’s be honest, most kids these days are desensitized very early; they have access to hardcore internet porn and snuff films in their pockets 24/7, this is nothing for them.

I feel that it would be a wholly appropriate time to remind everyone that Robert Reich is 4'11.

I usually don't mock people's heights, but this embarrassing fool just endorsed violence against women, so I do not give him that level of respect.

Reich's got a genetic disorder. Congrats, now you're just as bad as him.

I was genuinely not aware of that. Deleting ASAP.

Putting this here because even if THG wasn’t aware of Reich’s disorder, belittling someone because of their height is still incredibly shameful and disgusting

A pre-op (originally heterosexual) trans woman is no less likely to commit sex crimes than a straight cis male.

Not only is this is objectively false, it’s completely illogical and stupid. It insinuates that there’s something about bottom surgery that reduces the likelihood that someone will commit sexual assault.
It’s easier to rape someone when you have a penis

This post is so moronic that I'm submitting it here.

The logical conclusion of your argument is that cis women are just as likely to have the inclination/desire to rape someone, they just lack the capability to do so because they don't have penises. That's moronic for several reasons.
Or cis men are more likely to have the inclination/desire, and having a penis just makes it even easier for them to act on that desire

Not unless your fingers and mouth have also been cut off. Not joking.
A rapist can’t orgasm from fingering or blowing their victim, so there wouldn’t be as much of a reason for them to do so

Trump is fundamentally a pro-democracy pro-capitalist pro-peace hombre. He wouldn't accept dictatorial powers even if the overwhelming majority of the American people, congress, state legislatures, military, corporate world, et al offered it up to him.
