Because it's quite liberal.

TIL Canada is somehow equivalent to North Korea

I don't want anything to do with that failed state.  Its like how many South Koreans don't want to reunite with NK.

The Dooming on this site among Atlasia pollsters is ridiculous like S019 and Solid or Cookie Damage, D's need to go to Dailykos and Doom on that site as a D as I did in my younger days, they won't tolerate it, but that was also a time ago 15 yrs and they know now I am a solid D now

Booker should of been Prez not Biden and these aqme pollsters even Muhammad I have had disagreement with supported Biden I the primary and they are Dooming now

D's in state by state polls are outpoiling Biden Sisolak 52)47 and Kelly 50/47 Biden supposedly 39 percent Approvals and it's not over for Ds until EDay when ballots are opened

Not a huge fan of this thread in general because in many cases people use it to attempt to "own" other posters, quote their posts out of context, and generally can degrade the quality of political discourse on Atlas.

In fact, I seem to recall an incident within the past 3+ years where (from my perception), BRTD was effectively accusing me of a being a Communist Stooge bcs of a post I had made regarding some random election in Europe.

BRTD is correct that Boise was not only a Biden city, but even beyond that has long been a strong Democratic Voting city, as well as being extremely "liberal" on a wide variety of social, economic, and foreign policy related items.

Well before the massive Tech boom in Metro Boise, there was the City I visited for the first time as a kid in the mid '80s.

Very large and impressive natural food Co-Op that went way back to the mid '70s, Green Belt along the main river, alternative coffee shops in West Boise close to the University, awesome bookstore in "Downtown Boise" with a wide collection of alternative books, magazines, and newspapers, etc...

Ada County might well become a DEM stronghold in Idaho *IF* Dems can crack the Mormon vote in the 'Burbs.

Shortage of affordable housing these dayz in Metro Boise might also well dilute the strength of the PUB votes in Metro Boise (Outside of the City), as the Tech refugees are increasingly grabbing up what is already a massive shortage of housing....

Still, BRTD sometimes might need to play nicer in the sandbox, especially on such threads. Wink

HP/Foolish for wasting their money and giving themselves a higher risk of Covid by going to such a stupid event when they could easily have watched it from home or with a small group of friends. Sure they can do it, but legality isn’t morality.
They miss nothing from watching it at home and save a lot of money plus reduce Covid risk with no cost (actually a positive cost). It’s almost as bad as concerts (what a silly concept)

Russia is even more authoritarian than it was in 1980. Putin is a fascist in the same league as Adolf Hitler and needs to be decisively dealt with before he conquers all of Europe to use as a staging ground for an invasion of the US.

A new study indicates the BA.2 subvariant of Omicron may cause severe disease at the level of prior variants. It's already shown to be more contagious than Omicron (BA.1) and will eventually become the dominant variant. You guys thought the end-of-pandemic party was on, well, it might already be over! I thought we wouldn't see another surge until the end of the year but if this study holds, we may see another one within a few months!

compucomp needs banned from the covid thread, he's been showing increasingly deranged amount o glee over any possibility of the pandemic dragging on or getting worse, which is bordering on wishing death and harm to others.

Your side has insulted and trolled me in all kinds of ways over this issue, surely you can handle a bit of trolling from me, don't dish it out if you can't take it.

You take joy in the suffering of others and clearly need to be elsewhere.

Get out of here with that nonsense, you can't even be bothered to put on a mask for the good of public health and to alleviate the suffering of others and you're trying to pontificate at me? Really?

He says this to the most vocal forever masker on the forum.

I quite literally could not pick up Kurt Vonnegut after stomaching Slaughterhouse 5 and 40 pages into Breakfast at pictograms. All his work is entirely cliché and not even good satire compared to other authors.

Hitler’s writing style is meanwhile kind of fun with hindsight. It’s a look into a person who’s personality type enfused with political meaning at the trough of capitalism is becoming all too common in our society.

Well it's clear democracy has been redefined as simply Democrats winning and getting everything they want.

The truth is, most of the left hates democracy. They have contempt for regular people and think they're too stupid to make decisions for themselves. This can be seen on this forum all the time, including a thread where most Democrats are in favor of abolishing midterms because they're too inconvenient. Most of the left after the 2020 election, was slightly relieved but very distraught at just how many people chose to vote Republican after such vitriolic and hyperbolic propaganda that shamed anybody who even thought about voting for him. They clearly think half this country is irredeemable, so why continue this song and dance about how much they love democracy? They love centralized power and they love winning. The only thing that is actually giving the Republican Party a chance in this country is democracy. If it were up to institutions and oligarchs, the current Republican Party would be vastly overwhelmed and defeated, as it "should have been" in 2020.

I thought most of Atlas was against underage gender reassignment surgery.

Underage gender reassignment surgery should not be legal.

The order includes puberty blockers and testosterone and estrogen, not just gender reassignment surgery. You would know that if you bothered to read it.

Which should also be banned for minors. Those drugs are extremely harmful and can cause severe side affects on children.

Such ‘treatment’ should never be used on a developing child for any reason whatsoever.

Denying trans kids puberty blockers and the appropriate hormones is child abuse.

You are advocating for child abuse.

Do you even realize you would have been seen as a madman just 15 years ago ? Humanity did without puberty blockers for thousands of years.

Unless they are being used for growth deficiencies and other severe medical conditions, puberty blockers are one of the most horrific things I can imagine, a crime against biology and nature itself. We are lost as a society.

People with a penis believing they are women and people with a vagina believing they are men have always existed. I'll give you that, there have always been crazy people after all. However, we have never seen nearly as much sex change operations as today.

China had literally made it clear a week prior that they sided with Russia on this and Biden still did something like this ugh . The level of incompetence is insane

I fully support impeaching Biden for this. This is an impeachable offense and much worse than the phone call fiasco.

The head of state of my country is objectively a dullard. Not only that, but an inept dullard who can’t get anything right.

"Literally everything that ever happens is Hitler purely because I have no real argument."

I know Godwin's Law and all, but this scenario is similar enough to actually warrant a comparison.

No, saying this is similar dismisses what happened during the Holocaust as typical wartime behavior.

The idea isn't to equivocate the Holocaust with what Putin is doing - the idea is to stop it from getting to that point.

I don't think that it "dismisses" what happened in the Holocaust to be cautious in these sorts of instances. In fact, I think trying to paint the Holocaust as some once-in-a-millennium anomaly is more dismissive of the conditions that led to it in the first place.

Nobody thought that we'd see a world war with 6 million dead Jews when Poland was invaded in 1939.

The US knew exactly what Hitler's intentions were and continually turned away Jews who were trying to escape despite knowing this. We are doing more here with the sanctions than we ever did then--which was sending people back to their deaths--so continuing to make this equation to the current situation shows ignorance at the very least.

There's no shame in admitting that what's going on there is wrong and unjustified, while also acknowledging that it isn't Literally Hitler Again and that intervention will do nothing but worsen the situation for all involved.
Letting refugees in the country is a bad idea and always was. No matter the context. American jobs for americans.
Are you seriously suggesting we were right to refuse to take in Jewish refugees fleeing nazi germany?
Yes.

I think I'll put myself up as a neutral mainly due to my lack of feeling a strong solidarity with Ukraine vis a vis Russia, me merely disliking as opposed to hating Vladimir Putin, and my strong support for a diplomatic solution that gives Russia a tiny bit of something.

Ukraine's a near-failed state that has corruption issues worse than Russia's, that continues to suffer immense economic difficulties long-term, and that had issues even when Russia wasn't bothering it. Whatever issues Russia has had, Ukraine also has had, and it's had them more persistently worse than Russia. Oligarchs had a complete stronghold on politics until Zelensky took control (in Russia, Putin tackled the oligarchs and reigned them in - Ukraine never had quite a stabilizing figure on par with him), and they evidently don't really care about solving the people's problems either.

Ukraine's a great nation and a great people, but these problems are holding it back heavily. Only with Russian support, a degree of reforms, and a long-term game plan can the country really get on its feet. Ideally, Zelensky should be given a chance to continue in power, as he could help here immensely, if given the chance.

When I took a shower-bath yesterday, I hummed Ode to Joy in hopes of peace between Ukraine and Russia. I've also prayed to my Lord for peace between the two countries. Ukraine and Russia should not be at war with each other and to see the two brotherly peoples at war is saddening. We should defuse exceptionally high levels of east-west tensions that only would harm the Ukrainian people. Yes, Ukraine means borderlands, but that does not mean that Ukraine has to be an epicenter of battle lines. The people of Ukraine don't deserve that.

At least Ukraine will always have the best farmlands in Eastern Europe. They have always had that on their side.

While I used to be able to sympathize with some of Putin's views on certain issues, now I just can't. Putin is 100% without a doubt a war criminal now and I do not sympathize with war criminals! I still don't support US troops in Ukraine and hope that both sides can find a solution rather quickly, which sadly looks pretty unlikely at this point.

Just thought I'd give my two cents.

I am trying to restrain myself from hyperbole in asking this, but on what possible issues could one agree with Vladimir Putin on? Serious question.

Bringing stability to your country and raising it up from being an Oligarch dominated disaster zone like Russia in the 1990s or the United States.
