Longtime Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe announced his retirement in November 2023, that he would not run for reelection in 2026.

After a crowded GOP field, former Rep. Steve Russell won the GOP nod, former Rep. Dan Boren, a former Blue Dog Democrat in his House days won the Democratic nod.

Who wins?

Boren and Kendra Horn are probably the strongest possible Democratic nominees for statewide office in Oklahoma going forward. However, the state is still way too Republican for either to have much of a chance, even in a Republican midterm.

Steve Russell (R) 59%
Dan Boren (D) 40%
