Republicans have just anointed their sacrificial lamb:

If Gillespie ran again, it would be Likely D.

Gade seems like a pretty decent candidate, unfortunately for him its Virginia.

Not much opportunity for another 2014 scare this year.

2014 was a cameo appearance of the Old Virginia and provided some preview of the future. Ed Gillespie barely won Loudoun County which was probably due to turnout differential. But even by 2014, a Republican that competitive statewide should have won Loudoun handily. Gillespie also was competitive in Prince William County but in a very competitive statewide race only won Virginia Beach 51 to 46.

Mark Warner had just enough old rural goodwill and got the landslide margins in Richmond, Arlington, Alexandria, Henrico County and finally Fairfax that allowed him to eek out a win.

Now Warner could win by 20 points and do worse in many rural counties compared to 2014.

Because of pro-cop backlash in Virginia Beach, right?

Between Booker, Coons, Durbin and Warner, who gets the biggest and smallest margins?

Booker and Coons had almost exactly the same percentage and winning margin in 2014, both of them defeating their Republican opponents 56-42%. Durbin won 54-43%. It'll be interesting to see how things shake out this time. I expect all four Senators to improve over 2014-especially Warner.

Without a doubt.
