As others have said, this would makes a lot of sense for a state with an independent streak like Alaska. Let's hope Alaskans vote for it, because this could be adopted by other states.
Ranked-choice voting would significantly weaken the two parties' hold on American politics (which is why they would never allow it to happen nationwide), but one can dream. I imagine the Libertarian Party in Alaska in particular is loving this.
