The initiative would replace partisan primaries with open top-4 primaries for state executive, state legislative, & congressional races (a-la CA & WA except it'd be top-4 instead of top-2), & would establish RCV for general elections, with voters ranking the 4 candidates that came out on top in the open primaries. It would also establish RCV for presidential elections.

It could work well in a state with some quirky political habits (Independent Governors, coalition legislature majorities, etc.), similar to Maine. It will be interesting to see if the initiative gains support or broad appeal.

It'll definitely be good for Murkowski, if nothing else.

So general election ballots will have 4 candidates?

Yes.

There's been no polling yet, so who knows? Here's hoping...

As absentee ballots trickle in, the "No" lead is being reduced (currently at 53 No-47 Yes with only  75% of the vote in). I expect this to pass.

Lisa Murkowski's probably jumping for joy right about now.

What a nonsense! Ranked-Choice Voting only benefits Democrats!
Lisa Murkowski is now 50% more likely to win re-election but okay.

You realize you're talking to a person who probably feels that Lisa Murkowski is more Democrat than Republican, right?
