According to actual election returns, rich whites are more likely to support school vouchers than poor whites. However, poor Blacks are more likely to support them than rich Blacks. Why the difference?

Rich whites are more likely to benefit from vouchers than poor whites because they are are more likely to be already sending their kids to private schools, and not necessarily because the education is better, but their classmates will be more acceptable to the parents. Conversely, poor blacks are more likely to live in areas with bad public schools and thus more willing to grasp at straws. Higher income minorities more often get their kids into better schools by moving to a neighborhood served by a better public school, rather than sending them to a private school, so they don't have the same incentives to support vouchers that either rich whites or poor blacks have.
