Does the progressive Democratic Gov. of New Jersey have a chance?

No.  You can just tell he's too unlikable to be on a national ticket.  Even in a wave year, with lots of money, with outgoing Christie, in a very blue state he didn't get a good margin in NJ.  In fact, he barely won by a larger margin than Northam did on the same night.  He was basically the single underperformed of 2017 for Democrats.

Maybe a good Treasury Secretary?

Phil Murphy would probably make a decent Senator if Bob Menendez retires in 2024 or a good cabinet member in a future Democratic administration. I also feel that Phil Murphy will easily win re-election over Bob Hugin next year, winning all counties in New Jersey except Monmouth, Ocean, Cape May, Sussex, Warren, and Hunterdon.
