I understand if this sounds totally crazy, but nonetheless it's a scarily plausible scenario in my view and I am curious how it might play out. At some optimally timed point like a week before the election, a deepfake is released (most likely by Russian trolls) of Joe Biden admitting to assaulting Tara Reade/saying he was getting the prosecutor fired for looking into his son's company/whatever else. What happens? Do people believe it? Does it gain traction?

If we’re gonna go there, deepfakes of Trump saying the N word and/or raping 13 year old girls should also be at the ready.

Thy would be MUCH more believable.

In fact, if we dig hard enough, they might not even have to be faked...

He'll probably refuse right up until inauguration day and leave like a coward in the middle of the night like Adams did. I'm more worried about what he'll do after if he loses.

I’m not worried about him refusing to leave office since it’s legally meaningless - Biden is president at noon on 1/20 whether he likes it or not. I’m more worried about “rigged” claims and states refusing to certify votes.

I think that interference is a greater issue than his willingness to step down if he loses.

He’s got at least some legacy to worry about. The Russians have little deterrence, especially since on party is all in on denying and refusing to hold them accountable.

My bigger fear is actually Republican governors and state legislatures (in states with a Democratic governor) trying to suppress votes, especially mail ballots. If there is a second big Covid19 wave, Democratic turnout may be depressed. Yes, I know it didn't happen in the Wisconsin primary, but if things get worse with the pandemic, who knows?

I feel like Joe Biden at this point to toss a puppy into the ocean and still win the election. Trump is just shooting himself in the foot left and right, independent voters are just completely turned off by him.
