Former two-term Governor of Utah, trade representative, Ambassador to China, 2012 Presidential candidate, and Ambassador to Russia.

He's currently on track to likely win his race to return as Governor of Utah in 2020, and is only 60. How likely is he to potentially make a run in 2024, and would he have better luck this time than he did in 2012? He has managed to stay out of a lot of the controversial aspects of the Trump administration, and in a lot of ways would be very much the opposite of Trump as a candidate and politician.

He might be considered too close to China if tensions are the same then.

Huntsman would never win a presidential primary.

Republicans nominating a guy who served as an ambassador under Obama? Fat chance.

If he wins the primary, hopefully but he is in a close primary with Spencer Cox

Got to be honest, I wish every states gop was as good as Utah’s where the two front runners are two fiscal conservatives who aren’t super socially conservative

If he was too "moderate" for 2012, he isn't winning 2024. The sad part is the GOP would've fared better and might've beaten Obama in 2012 had he been the nominee instead of Romney.

I really like Huntsman but he would never win a Republican primary. Huntsman is way too moderate for the Republican party, even in 2024 after Trump.

The only person that can win in this environment is Kasich, Hogan or Michael Steele. Trump has made it tough on conservatives to win

2032, desperate to claw back a win after 12 years and fearing for the imminent retirement or death of Thomas or Alito (assuming the court isn't packed by then making it irrelevant), then maybe they would turn to Huntsman.

I disagree, Huntsman has a good mix, he might be considered as a no no by today's standards! But imagine this; Biden wins, Trumpism as a force would be done. Biden gentles politics, and Harris emerging in 2024, might not be a sure fire winner! Pence, Haley and possibly Huntsman run, I can see Huntsman with his money, stature and bipartisan credentials emerging and if he places Tim Scott on the ticket, its a Republican version of Biden-Harris. Huntsman likely could win!

Ted Cruz is as far left as the GOP electorate is willing to go, so no.

No. "Conservative Inc.", as the alt-right calls it, burned its bridge in the Bush years. Moderate conservatives will need a new approach with a fresh face and rhetoric as animating as populism to get anywhere in the party, let alone the nation. A few years ago I thought it would be rebooted with Paul Ryan's objectivism, but he's gone and most young people in that movement have shifted communitarian/alt-lite/alt-right.

It's hard to see his bid going places.  He'd have to hope to win NH and then ride that momentum to other wins.  Just don't see it.

I wonder if President Biden would want him in the Cabinet -- Secretary of State? Consider that Dwight Eisenhower cultivated the Mormon vote in 1952 by pumping Ezra Taft Benson, a Mormon leader. as someone welcome to the Republican Party.

No one who served in Trump's administration has any business in Biden's.

Depends on the person. Obviously Barr and Pompeo won't be getting anything, but I could see Biden retaining someone like Chris Wray at FBI.
