They shouldn't. Some still don't understand this but Trump's path to victory in 2016 was both incredibly narrow and is incredibly hard to replicate.

He has made no outreach to people who didn't vote for him, as evidenced by what Mattis said earlier. But Trump voters will march into the booths/hypocritically mail their ballots this fall thinking that 2020 will be 2016, that Joe Biden will be Hillary Clinton, and that everything will turn out ok. And that's fine with me.

But what you said is true. The only thing keeping Trump competitive is that the polls where wrong in 2016 so they must be wrong again in 2020.

All snark aside, this is not 2016, and Trump's electoral problems are real. Whenever your strategy is to try and game the EC because you stand virtually no chance at winning the PV, you know things are bad.

The only thing Trump cares about is getting sports restarted and playing in empty stadiums in lieu of private businesses being permanently closed. I found out my favorite Denny's restaurant was permanently closed

While NASCAR racers said its improbable to perform in empty stadiums.  And there wont be fans by the Fall like NFL had hoped it would be.

But, since corporations like to pay athletic Latinos and African Americans huge salaries, minorities that represent 2/3rds of prisons and 1/3 rd of poverty rate and are less than 40 percent of population are getting a kick out of rich celebrities not being paid. Especially,  when, they take our money to buy expensive memorabilia

As does Safe R Iowa.

If Iowa goes for Trump again, the only reason will be because the Biden campaign (rightly) saw campaigning there as a waste of time and money. Republicans have made massive gains in OH, and it is now a light red state that's still winnable for Democrats. But Iowa is still Iowa - a state with pragmatic voters who will choose whoever they think will best serve their interests.

Aggravates me seriously that people say Trump has a shot because 2016 and "muh polls were wrong". Every state but Wisconsin was in the margin of error. Incumbents besides Reagan and W. always shave states. Trump and Hillary were at least competitive in national polling during most of the race, no poll has showed Trump ahead since February.

But what you said is true. The only thing keeping Trump competitive is that the polls where wrong in 2016 so they must be wrong again in 2020.

Along with Republican efforts to steal the election in technically legal ways. (And presumably also some Russian assistance.)

The map obviously looks pretty ugly for Trump right now, and if the election were in June, then yeah “the polls were wrong!” would be the only reason to think Trump will win. However, as I’ve been saying, a lot can happen in several months, and there’s often a certain amount of luck in when elections happen. It’s hard to imagine Trump winning if the election had taken place on October 20th, 2016 instead of November 8th. The shift of attention away from Pussygate to Comey’s letter pretty clearly made a world of difference, and while things could turn out differently this time, I don’t have faith in Americans not to be distracted by something idiotic.
