Generally, failing to understand voters' reasoning and motives.  Most voters really don't think about politics except when they're tuning into the debates or casting their ballots; most just want to grill for God's sake.

This is probably the most on-point analysis of political normies I've seen here:
If Trump doesnt open up Sports stadiums and Schools and bars, aside from clothing stores and restaurants,  Trump is destined to lose.

Voters care about sports, bars and schools the most

"the Atlas bubble's biggest blind spot?" - as in the community of people on here?  This is how I interpret the question, and in that regard I offer this:  Confirmation bias, in seeking out evidence to support preformed conclusions rather than seeing where the evidence leads.  In the inability to divorce one's self from their own entrenched view, put down your own personal arguments - pick up your opponents point of view and arguments and try to make them stronger than even your opponent does.  It is only when you are inside your opponents point of view and position where you can truly being to understand it and internalize it.  Most people are afraid they might be convinced by their opponent's PoV or argument if they do such, so they never fully commit.  The people that do however end up being the best debaters and far less extreme in what the offer to the group writ large.

I feel as if Atlas (I think we're all guilty of this to some extent) overestimate how intelligent the average American is. No matter how much disdain I may have for some posters here, I can accept that they're probably more intelligent than the average American as most posters on Atlas have some form of advanced education, and are generally intelligent people when it comes to book smarts. The average American is really damn stupid, and then you have to think that 49.99% of Americans are stupider than that. When someone says "They're voting against their own interests", maybe but that person is 100% sure the Democrats are gun-grabbing, big city, [insert minority group], who are gonna make taxes 100% to pay for their Socialism, Healthcare for illegal immigrants, and Welfare Queens.

I think if anything, this arrogant, holier-than-thou attitude toward "half of the country" in fact perfectly exemplifies what I would consider this forum's most apparent oversight.

Yeah. I wish I cared more about sports, bars, and schools than I do about gerrymanders of the Wisconsin State Senate or whether or not Clarence Thomas is an activist judge. We should all be so attuned to what really matters in the end.

That's his point. TalkElections users struggle to relate to the ignorant masses that make up the bulk of real people and voters. It's likely even our dumbest member is "smarter" than 90% of Americans.

Definitely smarter in the sense of more informed, more aware of events; not necessarily in the sense of having more sagacity or sounder judgment.

The inability to properly have a discussion on Capitalism itself.

We do that literally every day, it's annoying to have edgy tankies criticize the only actually successful system in human history.

Any way, Atlas just doesn't understand that a far greater % of Americans are genuinely conservative than they give them credit for. I hear all these ridiculous things about how people in Alabama, Wyoming, etc are not "really conservative" and just feel left out, instead of acknowledging our genuine feelings and stances towards traditional values, limited government, etc etc.

Did you know that in the South, they legalized abortion, unlike Massachusetts, and the South supported abortion until the 1980s.

The only states where abortion was fully legalized pre Roe were Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, and New York. Southern laws were more liberal than New England, but a large part of that has to do with legislatures that only became more conservative/Republican later on, and were still controlled by fake moderate Democrats at the time.
