It would be much better if it were at Elliot County, KY.

They should just hold it in whatever country Trump is planning to exile to in order to evade prosecution after he resigns.  Maybe he won’t even bother coming back for the election.

Now, now.  You leave West Virginia alone.

Scenery-wise, it's an absolutely beautiful state.  (Education, average income, etc.? Eghhhh)

Why didn't they move the convention to a random town in WY under open sky with physical distance? It doesn't take rocket science to figure out how a convention can happen without much risk. Or just have an online convention. Otherwide, we don't need a party of Mr. Trump and his cultists in this state of the nation. The less we hear from him, the better.

Because then they have to admit they were wrong

You still need tens of thousands of people to travel to the location and stay there for a few days, so proximity to an airport and hotel accommodations are needed (the RNC delegates aren't camping in tents).

EDIT: That said, your proposal (basically Republican Burning Man) is funny to imagine.

Only it would smell like moth balls and stale beer rather than patchouli and weed.

From the story linked there:

Quote
Pence said the party will consult with health officials, Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis about the appropriate structure, but that “there is consideration being given to having the convention at an outdoor setting.”

“We’ll put the health of everyone participating first,” he added.

Pence said the RNC will release details in the upcoming days on what protective measures will be implemented.

In yet another bold move to outflank Joe Biden to the left, the Trump campaign is staking out another left-wing position on criminal justice reform, pledging to turn the 2020 RNC into a real-time experiment in police abolition.

Trump is going to cancel his convention speech in Jacksonville too because he can't get the packed audience he wants the whole world to see.  I'm calling it right here....
