The Republicans in Canada would be to the left of the Liberal Party as they support social security which is far more liberal than the CPP

The last time SSA was enacted on was in 1986, when Reagan enacted the Grand Bargin "raising cap" to 150 K of income. Obama wanted the Grand Bargin, but both Speaker Boehner and Minority Leader played politics so McConnell can ascend to majority in 2014.

Biden will do something about SSA even if it means getting rid of Filibuster once and for all.

The key to Ds getting 51 seats not a tie, which McConnell will have sway over legislation,  is defeating Ernst and Collins

In principle, Superannuation is better than either, but I'm not a fan of the high fees charged by Super funds.
