County Equivalents other than Boroughs in Alaska are usually Census Areas, and their boundaries are largely irrelevant in the real world. Even precincts cross those lines. Alaska reports by House District - and doesn't break out the absentee/question/early vote by precinct. So there is no reliable way to allocate the Alaska vote to county.

Counties are largely irrelevant in New England, including Rhode Island. Towns rule there.

Yes. But why does every other New England state report by county?

New England still has county prosecutors, sheriffs, and courts. Without law enforcement and judiciary, counties would likely be abolished. Like Alaska, California also reports results by state house district.

Why doesn't ERM64man research his question on google like a normal person?

Here痴 Connecticut. Results by county are listed. California also reports results by town and state house district.

Perhaps by habit. Connecticut does not have counties. You notice that the town results were not aggregated by county.

Rhode Island only has 31 towns, and 3/4 of the population is in Providence County.

In both states elections are conducted by towns, who send their directly to the state.

In Alaska, elections are conducted by the state government. They even conduct city elections. Much of Alaska is in the Unorganized Borough. It doesn't have a government. Census Areas are just statistical areas used by the Census Bureau. They have no functional role.
