National Right to Life Committee, today, gave State Senator Randy Feenstra its sole endorsement in his primary challenge to Congressman Steve King in Iowa’s 4th District. Feenstra has long been a leading voice in the Iowa Senate for pro-life causes and supported Iowa’s successful efforts to defund Planned Parenthood, end taxpayer funding for abortion and define that life begins at conception.

Scoop: A GOP outside group called Priorities for Iowa Political Fund will launch a TV ad tomorrow (5/21) in the #IA04 House race. The ad supports @RandyFeenstra (R) in his primary challenge against Rep. @SteveKingIA (R). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb8JsJ6pY6E&feature=emb_title

With Feenstra apparently having the support of the social conservative establishment behind him, does King have any chance of hanging on?

King absolutely has a chance of hanging on still. Voters never had a problem with his history of racist antics until now. This isn’t something that just suddenly popped up. Notice how Feebstra is only challenging him to get IA-04 a position on committees, not out of disagreement with King.

What if nobody gets over 35% in the primary and it goes to a convention? Does Feenstra win the convention?

I would guess yes. The party establishment does not want this embarrassment

It's actually an extremely smart tactic; everyone voting in the republican primary who dislikes King for his racism is going to vote against him anyway.

Might some Democrats decide to cross over in the primary just to oust King?

I will give McCarthy this, he’s put his foot down about King and others groups have started to follow his lead. Ryan and Boehner put up with him for way too long.

It is pretty obvious that Feenstra also thinks King is a reprehensible person. However, his campaign team is smart and recognizes that attacking King personally will not work with voters. It didn't work with Hillary vs Trump either. Dems could take notes.

Politico actually has a decent piece on King's upcoming primary next week. King quite literally is broke, and his opponents numerous mainstream allies control the message. If King somehow wins, it would be a testament to the power of the incumbent checkmark.
