Any reason why? What’s wrong with Yankee?

I don't really care but it would be nice to see somebody new in the position as Yankee has held it forever.

Nothing lasts forever.

The thing is it is not a good idea to change these just for change sake. What matters is the job gets done. The worst possible thing is making such determinations on any other calculus. It is a job that takes a lot of mundane and boring administrative work but in the process of doing that it enables and facilitates everyone else to focus on more enjoyable things.

This job has burned people out before. I have known of four instances where a Senator ended up having to leave not just the position but the game for a while because it was the straw the broke the camel's back. This happened to such distinguished luminaries as Marokai Blue, Bacon King, Snowguy and more recently Sestak. In fact, virtually every time I have taken the position after the first time, was in reaction to one of those scenarios playing out.

Anyway, time expired two hours ago

With 24 hours having lapsed a vote is now open on the position of Senate President Pro-Tempore.

This vote will last 24 hours or until a majority has been cast in favor of a member.

1) Write-in: TNF
2) NC Yankee

Meme vote because why the hell not. I want the Lenin statues in the capitol back  Cry

While I kinda share Wulfric's concern in a way, Yankee is still the best man for the job. PPT (or really speaker of any legislature) can be a fun job, I myself had plenty of fun while Lincoln speaker; and I am sure Yankee finds it fun too (otherwise he would not be here Tongue )

However it is also a very demanding job and one that easily breaks people. Not only that but it is also a very important job given that a bad PPT can bring the entire Senate business to a halt.

I will say I liked Yankee's performance as PPT a tiny bit less than usual in the last Congress (if he is usually an A+ PPT last time he was maybe an A-?), but that is easily explained by his entire RL situation as it relates to the coronavirus so I will not hold it against him in any way.

If anything Wulfric would be better off claiming that the PPT position should be partisan because reasons. Which to be fair it generally is, Yankee is the exception here, not the norm.

The elections for it tend to slip into being partisan, but the position in its application has never been.

And yes, my job has actually picked up rather than slow down because I work retail stocking at a big box retail chain. There were some really crazy nights last month. There still are, but that has eased up a little thankfully.

Order of the President Pro-Tempore
To provide for consistent administration of the Senate and compliance with the rules of said chamber

I hereby appoint Senator Scott, as Deputy President Pro-Tempore of the People's Regional Senate.
