The House has been generally more chaotic and also less productive then the Senate in recent months. We passed or failed 53 bills, while the House did I think ~34 assuming the noticeboards are right. We also had 36 amendments offered, which is one of the better post-reset numbers in that regards.

Now granted there are many factors that play into that, but we don't have a lot of drama on our side, certainly not procedural speaking. We addressed our rules differences quickly at the outset and just started steam rolling through bills, and I would hope to continue that. One thing I would like to see is more substantive discussion but that is hard to force from a procedural stand point.

I’m like 95% sure the House has more passed bills in the queue than the Senate does right now. The 18th Congress was more productive House wise than Senate wise IIRC and that’s still tricking down to this day.

Otherwise, I don’t disagree with the rest of your post, though it’s easy to have cooperation and little procedural drama with an elder Fed statesman and five Labor/Pax folks in this day and age.

Indeed, hence why I said recent months. Wink

Fair enough; the House with Ninja as speaker wasn’t great, and well the WB era wasn’t productive period until the very end since everyone running things was in over their head.

Doesn't help that the majority decided to change the rules to intentionally make it so that bills cannot move through the queue as quickly. They've even outright admitted they don't care if changing the rules meant that things would move slowly.

With 24 hours having lapsed a vote is now open on the position of Senate President Pro-Tempore.

This vote will last 24 hours or until a majority has been cast in favor of a member.
