I dont think liberals see Kennedy as extreme.  Just like maybe some conservtives wouldnt see some members of their own party as extreme.

Massachusetts is one of the most liberal states in the nation. Arizona is solid +10 Bush, but one can't really compare it to Massachusetts.

Kyl makes all of them look like moderates. MarkWarner08 here pointed out that Kyl has the most conservative voting record in the entire Senate according to CQ.

I agree. Kyl will still win fairly easily, but I think it will be closer than expected.
