Optimistic, the 2010s with the start of Boehner Speakership and the election of Trump put a damper on my view on things

I was way more optimistic in 2008

At least my dad didn't lose his main client (he's a consultant) and I wasn't having my internship (and thus potentially my degree) and my entry on the jobs market threatened by the 08 crisis, along with my source of income.

The 2020 crisis on the other hand...

2020 makes 2008 look like the late 90s

It's that bad

Also, the world was generally still a decent place overall in 08, even if it had problems

2020 is just a nightmare in every way and I think things just get worse from here.

I thought worse than the 2010s wasn't possible, but how wrong was I.

I was looking so forward to 2020, but now it's increasingly turnings out to be just about the worst year in my life.

When I was 13 years old? I guess I was vaguely happy about Obama and Nick Clegg although I had taken the test on politicalcompass.com and concluded I was far to their left.

And then this year I finally got to move back to my home region after 22 years exile and it seems like that may well be taken away from me as well

I was so happy about it but i may well lose that too

I was a teenager back then, definitely optimistic.

Oddly enough, I was think I was more cynical then.

Optimistic. I was naive enough to think things could get better.

2008 was the beginning of the worst 2 year period of my life, which coincided right as I was finishing High School. It started in June when I came home from my last day of 10th grade and my dad came home early and said his position had been eliminated.

Depends on the month. But Obama optimism outweighed recession pessimism overall.

I was only 11 at the time, but pessimistic. Much happier person now than I was back then.

My life was falling apart by the summer of that year and it took me 5 years to get back on track. Its been better since. The future in general feels much more guarded though.

I was so pessimistic from 2003 through 2015 that I refused to vote.

Optimistic teenager. Obama winning made everything seem possible.

Now I'm an adult, Donald Trump is the President, and even if he loses people are saying that he's still the favorite in my home state.
