Quote
Joe Biden wants a more progressive approach to economic stimulus legislation than Washington has taken so far, including much stricter oversight of the Trump Administration, much tougher conditions on business bailouts and long-term investments in infrastructure and climate that have so far been largely absent from congressional debates.

Quote
The former vice president said that the next round of coronavirus stimulus needs to be “a hell of a lot bigger” than last month’s $2 trillion CARES Act, that it needs to include massive aid to states and cities to prevent them from “laying off a hell of a lot of teachers and cops and firefighters,” and that the administration is already “wasting a hell of a lot of money.”

This might be the most progressive thing ever said by a Dem nominee since 1972 or 1968.

This is why COVID-19 isn't only a huge opportunity for Democrats to capitalize on because Trump is f***ing up his response to it and weakening his case for re-election, but also because it's making people realize that investment in our populace is as necessary as it always should have been.

This is one wide window dressing, that’s for sure.

Considering 2009 as well as his entire Senate history, infrastructure spending and government investment is actually one of the issues he has been very, very consistent on.

I have no doubt that Biden, if elected, would push for generally higher governmental spending on our neglected roads, rail, postal service, and other avenues for which largesse from Washington can make a difference to help maintain, expand, and upgrade key infastructure.

Considering 2009 as well as his entire Senate history, infrastructure spending and government investment is actually one of the issues he has been very, very consistent on.

Biden talks about his 2009 stimulus work in the article:

Quote
The Obama stimulus was wildly controversial, but it won bipartisan praise for its strict oversight and unusually low levels of fraud. In the interview, Biden was at his most indignant when he recounted how he recruited a gruff law enforcement veteran and government watchdog named Earl Devaney to oversee the Recovery Act in 2009, and how President Donald Trump fired the Pentagon inspector general who had been selected to oversee the CARES Act almost immediately after he signed it.

Quote
“I wanted to bring in the toughest son-of-a-bitch in the country—I really mean it, I’m not joking—because we wanted to make sure we did it by the numbers with genuine oversight,” Biden said. “Right now, there’s no oversight. [Trump] made it real clear he doesn’t have any damn interest in being checked. The last thing he wants is anyone watching that $500 billion going to corporate America, for God’s sake.”

So people should just be in poverty as a result of the coronavirus that Trump neglected before it was too late?

He's going to do what Trump said he would in 2016.  We could have had a strong works program and a massively improved infrastructure in the meantime.  And in typical fashion, he did nothing about it.

We'll be able to do it in 2021--having spent another $6-7 trillion this year (if not more) to keep us from sinking.

Another Stimulus would never ever pass the Senate. Unlike in 2008 Biden doesn't have the leverage having 57 Senate Seats like his boss had in 2008.
Democrats in their best case scenario will have 52 Seats and with potentially Collins gone there are no more of those RINOS.

McConnell needs to get back to his old tricks if he loses the Senate Majority and BLOCK EVERYTHING until 2022 Midterms and make sure Biden is a one-term POTUS.

We have 50,000 (and counting) dead and 900,000 (and counting) infected from the coronavirus.  26 million (and counting) unemployed.  All this happened on Trumpvirus's watch.  Is America Great Again?

"No more spending"  -- lol.  The deficit has exploded on Trumpvirus' watch, you and your ilk just refuse to acknowledge reality.

Quote
When you compare the last three years of Obama’s Presidency vs. Trump’s first three years, Trump’s deficits will be almost $1 trillion greater at $2.47 trillion to $1.51 trillion for Obama. It doesn’t look like Trump’s tax cuts will pay for themselves.

It's going to be necessary because the effects of the pandemic are going to last beyond containment (we don't even know when that will happen or when a vaccine will be available). There are tons of non-essential workers who are going to be out of work indefinitely and those people are going to need cash flow. If people end up homeless and homelessness rises, then the government is going to pay out even more money to handle that problem.

I now support abolishing the filibuster to own the genocidal freaks like '2016'. A huge shift in the Overton Window.

Better than the Republican strategy of “not tax, but still spend and run up the debt.”

The map in 2022 in IA, OH, WI, AZ, NC and GA favor the Dems too. McConnell only took the majority in 2014 that had a red Senate map, in 2010, even in an Obama midterm, the Senate map favored Dems

If McConnell blocks enough things the holdouts(Sinema, Bennet etc) will hopefully fold.

$2 billion wasn't a lot when Biden entered Congress - no surprise he wants more than that. Doesn't know the difference. Poor guy!

Obviously,  the Dems are gonna raise taxes on the rich in order to offset the 2 T package that it creates without raising the debt ceiling. So, the Rs can relax.

Who do you think you are? The Legislative Flilibuster will never be abolished. Even Biden supports having it.

As far as 2022 is concerned Democrats will lose Seats. The last time an Incumbent POTUS gained Seats during a Midterm was GWB in 2002.

And McConnell doesn't have to block everything. Thanks to President Trump and him the GOP-led Senate managed to appoint more Judges than any other POTUS in History, most of them are staunch conservatives, meaning every controversial Legislation coming out of a Democratic-led Congress can and presumably will be challenged in Court and rightly so. The Courts are the Insurance Policy Republicans have in the case of a Democratic Takeover in Congress.
