I’m guessing he’s seriously (Kim Jong) ill but not dead. There would significant movement around the country that would be picked up by our satellites. If he does die, I expect the upper leadership will rally around his sister, but her position would be in the party while a top general serves as head of state and a party loyalist as PM.

Basically some form of troika emerges.

He’s probably ill and in recovery from his medical ailments needing to be resolved by his recent surgical procedure. He’ll make an appearance in a few weeks at latest and laugh on TV like it was all a joke.

That, or he’s too sickly to continue leading the country, in which case it goes to whoever is next in line to be party chairman.

Nobody, no matter how sick, would voluntarily give up that kinda power. But I agree that if there isn’t a death announcement by the end of this week he probably will be fine. He’s resurfaced on TV before.

There were many reports that Kim Jong Il died for years before he actually did die. And when he did die, everyone was surprised, NKorea just released the information and startled everyone. So I'm just going to assume he's alive until North Korea itself tells us otherwise.
