A lab in LA just reported 1200 backlogged positive results, so today's California numbers don't look very good.

I'm surprised that Polis decided not to extend the order, and he seems to be taking the concerns about the economy seriously enough. But then again, he has been one of the most cautious and measured out of all the Governors in terms of the actions which he has taken, and certainly more so than most other Democrats, so it shouldn't be that much of a surprise. And he is a businessman, so he can perhaps sympathize with those concerned about the bottom line.

That's the opposite of cautious.

The US is going to set a new daily record for deaths today (at least according to the worldometers count).  The models that projected the peak to come around April 10 were clearly way off.

The peak in deaths isn't the same as a peak in new cases, and you must realize this is backlog right? It doesn't give an accurate picture into how many people are actually dying from this per day.

The cases are going to have a longer tail that many models predicted. Particularly with dumbass governors like in Georgia.

As if this couldn't get any weirder, a white hat hacker group has just posted the online login information for all employees of the WIV, CDC, NIH, WHO, and the Gates Foundation. They say they are going through the data now, but one authentic appearing screenshot from an employee of the Wuhan Institute of Virology appears to show a discussion of inserting an HIV single nucleotide protein into a coronavirus. If this is true, prepare for World War III.

I don't know what's crazier, that theory or the theory that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was studying bat coronaviruses but it was just coincidence.

LA county had a huge increase in the number of cases in the last 2 days due to backlog.

This is the study that found no benefit in treatment but an increase in deaths among those given it.

They keep pushing this just because Trump said it. I thought of a possible treatment that turns out to actually help (blood plasma), but I'm not the President.

Yeah there's no law that says we have to follow a bell curve. On average that's what you get, but individual curves can be messy.

It's pretty clearly going to have a longer tail than head. Just look at daily new cases in Italy.

This is such an embarrassment. What the hell is this crap?

I just saw a model that predicts 350,000 dead in the US alone by the end of June.

I lost hope I didn't even know I had.

The number of deaths is holding steady at about 2000 a day, so we're looking at around 150k-200k by the end of June.

This isn't the kind of "new Pearl Harbor" that PNAC wanted to start war with Iraq.

Being quiet would have been better than this.

California Mayor is apparently trying to push the stay at home order through July (which isn't going to be necessary due to the case trend). Hopefully he realizes what that means and he will come back to reality, but expect riots if he doesn't.

I highly doubt there will be riots for that. I think most people have been expecting long lockdowns for a while now.

Through July? Lol no

It would be incredible if everything goes back to normal by the end of July.

Keep telling yourself that.

That site assumes a lockdown until at least August 4th.

The government should allow people to break stay at home and social distancing orders if they're willing to get MUH CONSTITUTION tattooed on their foreheads in black ink. The rest of us will be able to visually identify high risk potential spreaders and the anti-lockdown nuts can have their freedom. Everybody wins. Problem solved.

EDIT - Businesses will also be able to refuse service to MUH CONSTITUTION forehead people, on the grounds that they are displaying official government documentation that they are a high risk potential spreader during a pandemic.

Don't you know about the constitutional guarantee to get coronavirus while the government spies on your web browsing history without a warrant? And I have to give Bernie some criticism for not being the 60th vote to stop that.

Note: This is CCP propaganda, it is exaggerated/twisted to make America look bad, it isn’t reflective of the real situation and I do not endorse the message or content. Although the voice-actors aren’t all that bad.
However, I stumbled on this video and it’s everything I feared/anticipated. The CCP is now using our awful excuse of a response to make us look bad, and this time, they may be successful.

Our continued denial of the problem has and will continue to devastate our chances of keeping up with the PRC. Especially as we hemorrhage our reputation and make the PRC look better in comparison to our allies.
I warned for weeks how our virus response would hurt our global position against the PRC, and how virus-downplayers were unwittingly helping Winnie the Pooh. Well here is the first sneak peak at their propaganda strategies over the next few years, it’s scarily good and should be extremely concerning (and not in a Susan Collins way)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5BZ09iNdvo

Coronavirus has made both the US and the PRC look terrible. There is more external anger at the PRC, so they are hurt more in international affairs.

The US had over 3 times new cases than Europe outside of Russia. Epic fail.

Yeah, that's where we're at. At this point, I'm fine with it.

Well, it seems we as a country decided on the really long lockdown because we didn't half ass it.

It appears that cases are increasing generally in places where the initial outbreak wasn't bad.

California had a death Feb. 6th and yet we're not clearly getting better yet.

These awful numbers for the sunbelt states near the summer solstice kind of kills the hope that summer is automatically better.
