Does anyone have any opinions on the views exlressed by the 170 Dutch academics?

The thing that worries me about things like "degrowth" is it often seems like a concept that can be used to sneak in austerity in green clothing.

also I tend towards the "land sparing" side in agriculture: better to concentrate your agriculture so more space for non-pastoral land rather than turn everything into farmland of mixed intensity. Better both for biodoiversity and food prices.

Without being too cynical, most of it is stuff that has been talked about for a while now. As it is, we have a failiing economic order that is totally incapable of reforming itself, and a political order that is totally supine to the economic order. So until you find someway of having a political offer that can actually win power, in several major economies simultaneously, and then actually have the guts to implement some form of reform, that kind of thinking is never going to be anything but a fantasy.
