Will the memory of coronavirus weaken anti-vaxxers for a long time after a coronavirus vaccine has been developed?

Hopefully. Legitimate medical issues should the only reason a child does not receive his/her vaccinations.

If there's a vaccine, then yes.

It should, but they'll probably always be out there somewhere keeping diseases alive.

Depends on whether we come up with an effective vaccine or not.

This question is asked on the false premise that anti-vaxxers have any credibility to start with. The only people who buy into it are idiots who will ignore anything that doesn't confirm their existing viewpoint.

I would like to follow-up on this post and say that it won't discredit anti-vaxxers.

I got into an argument today with my sister who has apparently been going down the anti-vaccine conspiracy rabbit hole. She says that she read online (alarm bells immediately start ringing for me when I hear that out of anyone) that pharmaceutical companies engineered COVID-19 so that they have the opportunity make another vaccine to profit off of. Yeah, where to even begin with that? Clearly, anti-vaxxers are still alive and well, and aren't going anywhere unless they all die of the various diseases they resist immunizing themselves to.

The anti-vaxxers have their following, but I suspect they'll all be keeping a really low profile for some time.

Unfortunately, these folks DO have credibility in some circles.

Conspiracy theorists in the UK have been attacking British Telecom engineers  and their signal towers over the 5G Coronavirus conspiracy.

You'd think so.... we'd essentially be in the same position if there was no flu vaccine and people wouldn't stand for this every year.  But yeah, there's a lot of morons so I'm sure many people will still buy in.

It should weaken them. People should be able to have confidence in the safety of vaccines, but vaccines in general are science - unlike some of the other responses to this crisis.
