This is something that has been brought up a lot this cycle as Biden will be 78 on Inauguration Day next year should he win in November with it seeming probable that he may not run for reelection in 2024 as he'll be entering his 80's.  Sanders would've been 79 had he won the nomination instead. Trump was 70 at the start of his term.

So is there any consensus on whether or not there there is a maximum age on being elected President?  Would it be a different for a woman as compared to a man since the average female life span is longer? After which point would age likely preclude running for a second term?

Currently there isn't a maximum age, although I would like to see one implemented someday. I heard Jimmy Carter say last year that he wanted a maximum age to run since he believed he wouldn't be able to handle the job at 80 years of age, just like Biden would have to if he gets elected. I think the max age should be 75, but I'd like to hear everyone else's ideas!

Biden and Trump are the last old Prez, Cruz is running in 2024 for R nomination, and for 2028 Tim Ryan, Joe Kennedy and JD Scholten assuming they run for Senate, are Prez contenders

I don’t know, but 78 isn’t as too old as 39 is too young.

As long as one is in good enough health both physically and mentally, age should not be an impediment.

If age were an impediment, then Mahathir Mohamad would not have been elected Prime Minister a couple of years ago.

So long as a candidate is fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency, no age is too old.

I think Biden should have his VP run in 2024. The man needs a rest.

I'd say 75 for a first-termer. I'm still voting for Biden over Trump, though.

I would have thought 74 was the cutoff until Sanders did okay.

80 seems to be the new magic number.

I think age is good as long as you don't play the part. No true numerical limit per se. Sadly Biden is the classic creepy, forgetful old man.
