I've always loved the lightsaber battles and the space battles.

What is your favorite part of Star Wars?

Yes, without most people realising it, music is a huge part of a good movie.

They might not know how to play it, but they are affected by it.

Throw in quality cutting edge space simulations, and you end up with the most realistic space fiction ever made.

It is a shame it turned so childish after the first three movies.

All of the sci-fi-fantasy elements and the associated action.

Hoth / first 30 minutes of Empire blew my mind as a child... the wompa, the tauntauns, Luke's lightsaber and it being pulled from the ice from tne snow, the Rogue Squadron landspeeders, the AT-ATs, the ion canon, rebel fleet and Star Destroyers... it was all so amazing to a 4 year old.

I really want to say the politics, because they are legitimately awesome, and a big part of why I love the prequels so much. But let's be real, the heart and soul of Star Wars lies in the internal conflict of Anakin Skywalker and his journey to and away from evil. That, I believe, is what will stand the test of time when all the glitz and fanfare around Star Wars will have died down.

Unpopular opinion, but the prequels were the only ones I liked.

Sick 70s and 80s practical effects (fighting the Death Star!?) combined with mysticism and the Hero's Journey.

And Obi-Wan Kenobi, both iterations.

That's Valid. The prequels and the originals have different qualities and areas in which they excel, so based on people's tastes it makes sense that people would like one but not the other. Of course some people will call you a heretic for saying that, but these people are morons.

It’s summary of deep and real meaning. What makes a hero? What is friendship? What are the dangers of good and evil?

Anakin did not become a Sith Lord because he was born to be evil, because he was raised as a slave. He turned to the dark side, and why? Because of the Jedis! They taught him to suppress his love, his feelings, his innermost self. Good, well-intentioned people tried to turn a young man who could have saved the world, who could have brought about peace, whose power was greater compared to all others, into a suppressed, hurting man. They thought what they were doing was so certainly right, they never questioned themselves. Those Jedis who did “good” and those Siths who did “evil”... They brought about their own destruction in the unquestioning allegiance to their ideals and their attempt to control one more powerful than themselves.

For anyone who thinks that the prequels ruined Star Wars, I have two words for you:

And yet, as we've learned with Disney, the range of storytelling possible in this universe is extremely limited.

No, just limited by what Disney thinks fans want.

Sadly true, that's why I emphasized the past tense in my post here.

I can’t decide. I love everything from the politics to the light side/dark side journeys of the characters to the aesthetics to the mythology to the aliens to the score/soundtrack.

It's the lightsaber battles, followed by The Force.

It's a real failing of the Disney trilogy and movies that lightsabers are downplayed so much, and arguably one of the best parts of the prequels.

The only terrible lightsaber fight worth a pass is the original one [aka A New Hope] where Vader faces Obi-Wan.

Whatever aspect ratio the film originally released with, but I'll settle for 16:9 if I'm watching it on TV or something.

The best part of The Rise of Skywalker was when Palpatine said, "I am...inevitable!", and Rey replies with "I am...Iron Man!" before disintegrating him for good.
