I think he's a really good Twitter follow.  I likely disagree with him on many issues (he always voted Democratic until 2016, when he voted third party), but his takes on the intersection between politics and sports and that big business and technology should not be biased against Republicans are very strong.  Also, he's been very strong against coronavirus hysteria and fearmongering during this whole pandemic.

And he recognizes that the SEC is far superior to any other conference in football.

Super FF for most of the decade, but has gotten really trollish and irritating over the last few years to the point where he's really not worth following anymore. In fact, he's been downright dangerous in 2020 for downplaying the seriousness of the COVID-19.

I get that his shtick makes him a lot of money. But it's pretty ironic that the guy who spent years saying we shouldn't mix sports and politics has decided to pander so much to conservatives in his sports commentary.

The BIG Ten is better than the SEC

Great article about a once-great media personality who went off the deep end

https://thebulwark.com/the-ballad-of-clay-travis/

Quote
Clay Travis decided that, in the absence of sports, he could find a market niche by offering pseudo-scientific rants about how the media was overhyping coronavirus. He told listeners that the disease would only kill “a few hundred people” and that he doesn’t “believe it is going to impact hardly any of us at all.”

And it turns out, however off-base this was as a moral or intellectual matter, it was an excellent business decision.

Travis’ anti-media screeds found an audience of listeners looking to both have their political priors validated and an enemy they were comfortable hating. Which is how this unlikely sportscaster found himself as one of the most prominent voices lecturing the media over their anti-Trump “fear porn” and telling Americans to just “chill out” when it comes to COVID-19.
