Bruce Campbell vs. Army of Darkness

One of the finest films ever made.

V for Vendetta. Easily the best movie, so far, of 2006.

V for Vendetta. Easily the best movie, so far, of 2006.

Watched that one and 40 Year Old Virgin last night. I was impressed, but Inside Man is still the best non-animated movie of 2006.

I've yet to see Inside Man. Although the cast looks impressive.

Death of a President. Pretty dumb/pointless.

Children of Men: V For Vendetta meets Saving Private Ryan. I enjoyed it.

The Departed. Pretty good, although nowhere near as brilliant as Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, or Goodfellas. But, ugh, why can't Bostonians talk like normal human beings?

Live Free or Die Hard. Inferior to the first three, but still entertaining enough, I guess. Some of the action sequences were too amusing to be exciting, IMO.

If you guys are taking the movie seriously, you are greatly missing the point.

We know it's a satire, but it still sucks. Verhoeven has made many superior films, most notably Total Recall.

It's one of my favorite films. It's a combination of everything, coming-of-age films, romance, comedy, war drama all into one awesome mix.

I honestly just can't stand Casper Van Dien. Worst actor ever. That was probably the point, but still.

Anyone else seen Children of Men? I thought the cinematography style was absolutely brilliant.

Yeah, I loved Children of Men. The whole eight minute sequence near the end with no cuts was pretty f'ing awesome. Michael Bay could learn a thing or two from Children of Men's cinematography.

Zero Day (2003). Columbine-inspired film. I actually felt sympathetic towards the two main characters until, well, the ending. Is it just me, or is police response ridiculously slow in low budget movies?

Hot Fuzz. The final 30 minutes are perhaps the most 30 brilliant minutes of cinema I have ever had the fortune of observing.

The Final Countdown. Features the USS Nimitz going back in time to just before Pearl Harbor.

My friends and I rented that movie as a joke after reading the wtf plot description on IMDb. Truly a brilliant piece of cinema right there.

Superbad. lol.

30 Days of Night

kinda dumb, but I would have liked it more if all the characters would have kept their mouths shut throughout the entire movie. Some of the dialogue was reminiscent of a Michael Bay movie.

Audition

A modern classic, as they say. F***ing blew me away the first time I saw it and am glad to say that it still hasn't lost any of its chutzpah.

Was that the one Japanese movie with the fetuses? Cause that was pretty disgusting.

I'm 99% sure I've seen Audition (there's no way I would have heard of it if I hadn't), but I honestly don't remember any of it. I probably had my eyes closed throughout the entire thing, but the IMDb plot summary isn't even ringing a bell.

Oh, yes. Wikipedia comes to the rescue. The movie where that thing eats the vomit. Lovely film.

Charlie Wilson's War

Fantastic film. Politics, sex, booze, the Cold War all told from a nice liberal slant. My kind of movie Smiley

Saw Vantage Point last night at the local AMC theater. The movie itself was like a bad episode of 24 (except instead of CTU being ridiculously incompetent, the Secret Service is). But someone pulled a fire alarm shortly before the movie began, which resulted in me grabbing two free movie passes from various different employees. So I guess it was worth it.

How was that? I really liked the first one....and I like the overall plot of the 2nd one so far. I have yet to see it.

I saw it, and it was pretty good.

Cool. I like Michael Bay movies...he has most of my favorite movies under his belt. Con-Air, Armageddon, The Rock, National Treasure, and Bad Boys I and II. I'm planning on seeing National Treasure 2 soon!

Bay had nothing to with Con Air and National Treasure. Those were solely Jerry Bruckheimer productions.

For reasons I still fail to comprehend, we watched Swimfan at like midnight last night. It's basically a movie for 12 year old girls. The filmmakers also wasted a brilliant opportunity to make the ending more like Fight Club's by having Jesse Bradford and Shiri Appelby kissing or holding hands in the foreground while Erica Christensen drowns in the background with Where Is My Mind? playing. Oh well.

Ooh, and I also re-watched Swordfish yesterday afternoon. Truly a film that is allegorical to all our lives.

Indiana Jones 4 (saw it last night at 1201)

It was enjoyable, but kinda underwhelming. And the ending sucked. And apparently, Soviet troops have worse accuracy than Imperial Storm Troopers.

Certainly not as memorable as the other three films.

Recount

Had a good laugh at the ending because it reminded of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Other than that, depressing.
