Mar. 18, 2024: Rubio drops out and endorses Haley

Wikimedia Commons

Today, Republican senator Marco Rubio announced that he will drop out of the presidential race. He has announced that he is endorsing Nicky Haley. Rubio was polling first in Florida, just ahead of both Pence and Haley. Insiders believe that Rubio endorsed Haley because he believes that Pence will not be able to win the general election in November.

I'm going on a limp and say Haley wins Florida & Arizona (large Hispanic Population) with Rubio OUT and endorsing her, Pence narrowly wins Ohio and Illinois is a total jump ball.

And then we have to see what comes next. Haley has probably a good chance winning in Georgia while Pence might win Wisconsin.

I am also a bit flummoxed why Haley isn't attacking Pence over the COVID-19 Response and make this an issue with the Voters. She could easily say that the DNC, President Biden and VP Harris would carpet bomb Pence with negative Ads in the Fall Campaign because he was the Head of the Corona Task Force in 2020.

Wow. Idk who to support.
Mike Pence is anti-LGBTQ+, but also, Every Democrat in the race is Pro-choice when it comes to Abortion.
I can’t find any candidate who is pro-LGBTQ+, but Pro-Life

JBE is actually quite PRO LGBTQ but also strongly Pro life
Also Rob Portman?

Looks like in this scenario people are fed up with the Trumps so maybe that's why Don Jr. isn't doing well.

Disappointed no student debt forgiveness or reform of any kind was passed with a Democratic trifecta.

Happy that the court won’t go lopsided and there is at least an outside chance of a moderate/liberal majority on the SCOTUS in the future

But the 2024 race seems crazy to me..... I’m bias I know but no chance in hell Kennedy has that poor of a showing. No chance at all. I also think Cuomo would do a lot better than many here would give him credit for. With that being said I’m not sure big names run in 2024 - I think it would be a lot like 2024 where the VP is basically assumed to be the nominee.

Very entertaining read so far !

Nikki Haley 52 Delegates behind former VP Mike Pence. She needs to hit Pence on the 2020 COVID-19 Response particularly in the Northeastern States like New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland and Rhode Island.

Here is how I think the remaining Primaries could go down:

Oregon - Haley
New Mexico - Haley
Montana - Pence
South Dakota - Pence
Nebraska - Pence
Kansas - Pence
Wisconsin - Toss up if former Speaker Ryan, former Governor Walker endorse her otherwise Pence will win
Indiana - Pence
Kentucky - Pence but might depend what McConnell does
West Virginia - Pence
Pennsylvania - Haley
New York - Haley
New Jersey - Haley
Connecticut - Haley
Rhode Island - Haley
Maryland - Haley
Delaware - Haley
District of Columbia - Haley

This could easily also go to the Convention.

Jr is the Jeb! of 2024. Big name candidate but doesn't do well in the primaries. He'll endorse either Pence or Haley.

Apr. 22, 2024: Cuomo, Trump Jr. drop out

Wikimedia Commons

Both, Andrew Cuomo and Donald Trump Jr. both have dropped out of their respective primaries. Cuomo has served as the Democratic governor of New York since 2011, he is currently serving in his third term as governor there. Cuomo had an early and unexpected victory in the New Hampshire primary. There are rumors that governor Cuomo and Representative Ocasio-Cortez both might challenge Kirsten Gillibrand in the senate election. The primary will take place in September 17, 2024. Cuomo has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris which should give her a boost in the New York primary next week.

Donald Trump Jr, son of former President Trump has announced that he will drop out of the Republican primary. Trump Jr. did not preform as well as some might have expected. He lost primaries that he was polling fairly well in, like New Hampshire and Florida both. Trump Jr. ran for Senate in New York against Senate Majority Leader Schumer and lost by over thirty points. Trump Jr. has not endorsed a candidate for President but is rumored to be leaning towards Haley.

Apr. 25, 2024: Biden proposes new Climate Change plan

Wikimedia Commons

Today, President Biden and his administration proposed new climate change legislation to stop climate change and global warming. This plan is more ambitious but does not go as far as the progressive Green New Deal that was proposed in 2018 by New York City Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and former Massachusetts senator Ed Markey. Climate change is a major issue among Democrats and independents. Scientific studies have showed that society needs to stop climate change before it is too late. Reports in 2019 showed that by 2030, it will be too late to stop climate change. If the bill passes, the United States will phase out all fracking, get to 90% clean energy and reach net carbon emissions by 2050. Senate Democrats have came out in support of the plan, where the bill is likely to pass. It is unclear if the bill will pass the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, where the Republicans hold a majority of only one sole seat. Democrats expect that they could possibly get some moderate Republicans in House to vote with Democrats for the bill.
